So last August, I was diagnosed with BV. (Bacterial Vaginosis) and I got treatment with metronidazole gel. Then last month, I was having white discharge again so I went back to the gyno and he said it was not an infection, but bacteria and yeast. So this time he prescribed me the same medication, but in pill form. After i finished the medication, the discharge subsided, and I still noticed a small amount it. Today, I noticed a clear, yellow gel-like discharge. My gyno left the office I went to, so i don't see him anymore. I've tried eating yogurts with live and active cultures, and taking probiotic acidophilus capsules. I don't know how to get rid of this problem, and it's embarrassing to be intimate with my boyfriend.

I'd also like to add that I have recently gone off the pill about 2.5 weeks ago, and Im not sure if the discharge is hormone related to going off of it, but I think i just have bacteria that is hard to get rid of. My last resort is to get a refill on the gel. I have 1 refill, should i just go with that instead of going back to the doctor?
Hi! I have similar problems too. Unfortunately bacterial vaginosis can recur after treatment. The best thing to do from my experience is to always use a condom. The usual dose of vaginal metronidazole gel is one applicator full intravaginally twice daily for five days, so I wouldn't use two applicators in a row. But your discharge could be related to stopping birth control pill as well.
