I am not registered but I am glad I have found other information as there is not allot around for allergies to mushrooms and other foods. My daughter experiences very dry and chapped lips and swelling of the lips top and bottom but never together.I am going to take her to a specialist as she is only 13 and the swollen lips are becoming more regular. For the last 5 years of her life she has suffered from severe stomach cramps and diareoa for hours at a time. Has any one else experienced these same symptoms?

This is driving me freaking crazy. My lips get extremely dry and swells up. Sometimes there are little fine bumps on the top upper lip, never on the bottom lip. I feel like a weirdo at my new job, because I always have to keep putting something like caramex or something oily so my lips won't appear so dry. When I talk to people at work or even strangers they rub their lips together or lick them or put chap stick, gloss or whatever on their lips. When I went to the doctor I was prescribed a herpes cream or ointment ,And was freaking out ,because I'm like I haven't had sex in 2 years and if it was herpes , wouldn't it show up in a blood test ,from previous times that I've been to the doctor. My lips are looking like big swollen soup coolers. The herpes cream/ointment doesn't work, Vaseline doesn't work.
I drink plenty of water, take a multivitamin ,not overweight. I just am at my wits end of what this could be and what solution anyone has to my dilemma, would be greatly appreciated.

Like many of you, I am experiencing swollen lips. This started for me 5 days ago. I woke up with my lips being about 3 times their normal size. They are very chapped feeling, and when they swell, they itch very badly. I have no sores or anything like that. Throughout the day, the swelling goes down some, but as soon as i go to sleep, it happens again. It's very frusterating. I went to the doctors and they gave me a steroid shot, as well as suggested I take benedryl, with nothing helping. I'm so frusterated. Please help!!!!!

I had this go on for five years, testing, two dermatologist, red ring around mouth, swollen mouth, peeling lips, rashes , red neck, etc...i finally figured it out...did not show up in three. Rounds of allergyntesting..I'm allergic to all nuts , including peanut butter.I stopped eating those things , six weeks ago...symptoms completely went away. All those doctors kept giving me creams, I KNEW had to be from the inside, not, out ...that was causing this.

I have the same "ring around my lips" come and go. Sometimes it itches, and if I give in and scratch, my lips will start peeling. Ugh!  It comes and goes. After changing lip balms and lipsticks several times and eliminating certain foods, I still couldn't figure it out. Then I read something about candida fungus around the edges of the lips. I had some anti-fungal cream on hand and have been using it when the rash appears. It takes a few days, but it gets rid of it.  I have noticed that if I eat much sugar I get the lip thing and also athlete's foot. I have been getting athlete's foot if I eat too much sugar for a while. I'm 99 percent sure that the lip thing is candida and related to eating sugar.  Some of us can't tolerate much sugar--I think I'm probably pre-diabetic and should get my blood sugar checked. Maybe your problem is candida. The name of the cream I have is Clotrimazole and Betamethasone. It's a prescription, but I'll bet the cream you can buy over the counter for athlete's foot would work too.

Yes I am having the same thing. I believe the little mosquito bite area is small hives. My lips will swell at various times with no apparent reason. I have been researching the condition and from what I have surmised is the condition is called Nettles. Nettles have all the symptoms I am experiencing. Small itchy bumps on my hips when I sleep and then go away soon after I get up. My lips swell at different times with no apparent reason. Nettles is the only thing that comes close to the symptoms. Antihistamines such as Benadryl is the only answer. From what the Doctors say on line is it may go away in 6 months or so. If it persists after that period of time see a dermatologist for stronger medicines.

I am not registered but thought I would add my two cents worth.  I am really frustrated.  I first experienced the almost identical symptoms. I was told I had a lip ulcer and prescribed Dioval by a nurse.  The symptoms went down and reappeared without the bumps inside my lower lip a week or two later.  Then a doctor prescribed an antihistamine.  This worked temporarily.  However, it keeps happening and I don't know what I am allergic to because it seems to happen after I have put something in my mouth not always right away but soon enough.

I am really worried because I don't have a clue what is causing it.

Do you wear dentures? They can sometimes contribute PH and yeast imbalances in the mouth especially if you have just altered your denture care routine or products.

Did you take Benadryl to help with the swelling? I just switched mousse products and woke up with swollen lips, so that is suspect.

I believe in most cases this is an allergic response to a food or medication, cosmetic, or something in the air you are breathing (pollen, perfumes, second-hand smoke, industrial pollutants).

The body rarely becomes inflamed without some sort of trigger.

I know it is difficult to be a detective but it's really the only way. Try to keep track of when your flare-ups are at their worst.
