The problem is in my cervical spine. There is a sort of bulge created by the bones in my spine from which my neck is in a way pushed forward. It kind of looks like a hump where my back and neck meet. My spine it seems is a little bit curved outwards in that general area. I once asked a GP what the medical name for it is and was told that it is a form of osteoarthritis in the cervical spine. I also believe it is inherited. It doesnt currently provide any discomfort but i would like to find out the actual name so that i can research it a little more, so far all the information i have found is a little too broad. If someone could please give me any more info that would be greatly apperciated and i would also like to know if there is a way to correct this.
anklosing spondylitis will cause the neck to pitch forward and a hump on the back. it is mostly a disease of men and has a genitic component, the hla-b27 marker which you can be tested for. most who have AS have this marker, there is surgery, it's called a cervical osteotomy, very delicate and very major. i had it last summer, was hospitalized for months, had some nerve damage, staff infections, and more nasty side effects. i had a world renown surgeon at a world renown hospital. i am still recovering with loss of use of my hand. it just shows nothing is gauranteed.
