Hello. I'm 24 year old female and I would like to hear more about the condition I have diagnosed with recently.
You see, when I was younger, I was suffering from very frequent respiratory infection and later from vaginal infections.
I wasn’t so worried about that because ii though it is normal thing to have when you are young. One friend recommended me to contact my doctor over this because the problem could be bigger. Why not?
I have contacted my GP and he did some CH50 individual complement protein and determined that I have low concentration of that protein. What does this mean? I would like to know what this complement is and how serious this can really be!

Hello. I'm medical student and I know some facts about complement and CH50 test. I will tell you what I know about this.
Medical definition is a little complicated but you will understand the basic meaning: complement is a system of 25 cell membrane associated and plasma proteins, which when activated produce multiple inflammatory mediators, opsonins, lysins, and down regulators vital to the normal function of the immune system. The "complement cascade" is a series of reactions that take place in the blood. CH50 is just one of those 25 proteins.
That’s why you body is more prone to the infections. This is serious disorder and I suggest you to listen your doctor and take all the medication he prescribes you regularly.
