Both of my ent's said my throat and ear problems are from my acid reflux. After being on so many meds, my stomach has gotton worse. I looked up what the doc said (LPR) and I do have most of the symptoms.
Here is a link, scroll down to LPR. Someone can have acid reflux and not relly know it. If you have ear pain or post nasal drip, you should check out the link.

Well, I have been having swollen tonsils with puss patches on them, swollen glands in my neck, fatigue, and a dry throat for a while now. I first started getting this on November, and I didnt take my antibiotic regularly. Also, the second time I had it I just finished the prescription from before. Then I got it a third time and finished the meds. Now I have it for the fourth time, but Idk if it is something other than what the doctors told me which was tonsilitus, or if I became immune to the antibiotics. Idk, do you know anything else that it could be?

I had a similar problem a number of years ago - to the extent that the doctor said I should stop worrying about and get on with life - she basically said - "Just cope".
I then went and saw an Ear, Nose Throat specialist who took one look at me sitting there with my sore throat, sore ears, sneezes, coughs and scratching (had no idea how much I was doing the last two) and said "you have food allergies"
Allergy tablets WILL NOT help food allergies or food intolerances - get your self checked out - but do not let them diagnose you on the basis of a blood test for allergies - mine says sulphur/sulphites/sulphates are fine for me - but if i ingest something with sulphites in it - I pass out.....
You may have to do an elimination diet to find out what it is - but trust me - it is well worth it...... my problem was chocolate (damn!) but once I stopped having any of that - my sore throat disappeared and I felt about 100% better....
Hope you get it solved!

I had my tonsils taken out a year ago, just before they were taken out I noticed the lymph node in the right side of my neck was enlarged, and painful. it has made me weak, and I started getting nosebleeds for no reason...any way to check if it is some sort of cancer, or infection?

well i have had swollen glands, sore throats, horrific headaches, ear aches from the swollen glands since i was in third grade. I am now a Senior in highschool and it hasnt stopped. I was told it was from my asthma, which has never given me any trouble. Also i was told i was a carrier of strep and that it could be a condition fixed by removing the tonsils. Never had them removed because another dr said it wasnt necessary. I have tried almost every medication on the market and nothing helps. My grandparents have tried every home remedy and none helped (and there were some strange ones) I dont know of anyone else in my family who has this sort of trouble and i hope i cannot pass this along to my children. I would be so greatful to anyone who is able to help at all. Im only 17 and i dont want to live my life always being sick.

Maybe you could try doing a Lymph Node Ceanse? It can only help.
Google Lymph Node Cleanse, find a page and follow the protocol.
It's pretty much fresh green vegetable juices you need to drink for at least 3 days, hope it helps.
Someone else said that they were taking medication for heartburn,
I used to take prilosec, and I was still having trouble. I also had terrible hiatle hernias and was allways in the ER.
I took a digestive enzyme br Enzymedica called DIGEST and it was so amazing, it worked brilliantly! Take 2 with each meal, and never had hiatle hernia again or heartburn even after I finished taking the bottle.
You can get it at any Health food store. :-)

All of this just happened to me recently.
Saturday afternoon felt a tremendous amount of pain in the right side of my neck. I am a school teacher, so i thought it may have been something from the kids. Took some Tylenol PM that night, and woke up in the middle of the night with more pain: difficulty swallowing on the right side like I could choke on my own tongue, every swallow was felt in my right inner ear, my neck hurt to touch and move it. Took some alka seltzer and went back to me.
Woke up Sunday with things worsened. Called the doctor, and they told me to go to the Emergency room or or local doctors care. Went to the doctors care, feeling nauseous along with above mentioned symptoms. They gave me a shot of benadryl on one side of my butt and a shot of toradol for pain on the other side of my butt. The benadryl did nothing, so it proved it was no allergic reaction. The toradol made it easier for me to move about and swallow better, but the pain was still there. They prescribed valium and vicodine for me.
Went to school on Monday and took ibuprofen because I didn't want to take the valium and vicodine combination while around children. The ibuprofen worked some, but the kids could see I was in pain, swallowing proved to be more difficult, it really did seem I could choke on my own tongue, and my voice was getting worse and worse.
Got a sub for the next day and went to my regular doctor. The swelling had gotten most obvious, and he sent me to get an ultrasound. The ultrasound didn't show as much so i returned to get a CT scan. All they would tell me is that I had an abnormal CT scan. They rushed me to the nearest ENT, and I had to have a lymph node/gland removed and major drainage due to an abcsess. There is still a small, thin line in my neck for th e abscess to drain, but most of it is gone. The doctors and nurses drove me ot the hospital themselves and got me admitted quickly where i was in a private room and given antibiotics.
I was discharged today to return to the ENT's office to check the line and sutures. Things look good, and I am a little sore but nothing like before. I get my sutures removed in a week, and he gave me a prescription for antibiotics and vicodine in case I needed it.
I don't know if that is the end of it for me, but they didn't waste any time in my case because my airway was obstructed.

Im having these same problems too. My thyroid glands are swollen and my throat feels like something is stuck in it and my mouth stays dry. Its hard for me to swallow and from time to time i choke off my food. My thyroid function test came back negative and my thyroid ultrasound came back negative. My chest also tightens up and my heart races i guess due to anxiety. Now i have to go see an endocronologist. I pray everything is okay with all of god. Just have faith in God. :-(

I have also had swollen glands on both sides of neck. At times they will start off hurting with a dull ache and hours later turn into a migraine... usually ending up behind my right eye. after about 9 mos of blood work, MRI and adjustments in HRT, the Endroconologists sugested that we try a migraine preventative. At this point. I am willing to try anything.

I too suffer from this and it is going on 2 years now. The severity is up and down and sometimes only on one side. I have chronic ear aches like my ears are plugged along with the pain. I had strep throat shortly before this happened as we ll and ever since then ive had this problem. I will definitely be checking in to see if anyone has found an answer. Good Luck guys.

I have had this problem come and go, but recently, I found a great solution with my local doctor using two medications. Amoxicillin 875mg (normal) twice a day. And in conjunction, a STEROID (this has to be used to reduce the inflamation- that is why the antibiotics did nothing for you!) The steroid is called Methylprednisolone 4mg DSPSAN and you are on it for 6 days. Expect results on your very last days of the steroid- you will be completely "deflated" and able to swallow, no earaches (it will cure ear infections great), any tonsil white-infection will be gone, etc.
After a while, it may reappear, and if it does, it is a signal that your body is not recieving enough water and is dehydrated. Ear infections also cause tonsil problems, so take care to stick cotton balls in your ears in the winter time because the cold will make your ears act up. Warm weather helps, and so does a humidifier, but above all, you are dehydrated and need to flush out any toxins that are causing inflammation. It is just a warning sign your body gives off when you are dehydrated, or already have an ear infection. Do the medicines first, which are fairly cheap even without health insurance and see how it goes from there with good hydration!
This fix you really well!

I have had the same thing for about a month now. I am starting to think it is a result of stress and anxiety, Have yo ever looked into the possibility it could be from anxiety and obsessing over it? If you continuesly touch your lymph glands you could actually irritate them just by touching them so much. I am a very anxious person and people who are depressed and anxious can have obsessive thoughts about their health and make their lives a living hell! If you can admit to this it will probably help me too!! I am trying to get a program called attacking anxiety and depression by Lucinda Bassett, it is supposed to be a cure literally from anxiety, stress and obsessive thinking. Get back to me I would love to hear your feedback!! :-) Ash

For the past two years I've never been able to breathe through both of my nostrils expect for one week. Even benedryl didn't help, just made me tired.
Thursday (4/12/07) I started feeling sick, achey and tired mostly. Thursday night it got worse, swallowing was hard, I was coughing and that hurt, and if you trace a line from your ear down your jawline to your neck where the lymph nodes are, that hurt.
I've had an ear infection before and this isn't how it feels. Never had strep before. My wisdom teeth have been removed now for oh about 4yrs I think. My diet hasn't changed, haven't moved, etc. The weather here in SoCal has been the same (warm then dreary looking) and I've had allergy attacks which have gone away.
Right now if I look down my throat, both sides are swollen and the thing thats supposed to dangle at the back is like.. stuck and looks swollen too. I'm still achey and tired even when I've slept most of the day. My neck and shoulders hurt the most, hips hurt from lying on them when I sleep (if I sleep on my back I feel like I might choke). When I try and swallow I feel mucus in my throat and had actually threw up yellow-green mucus with some chunks (ew gross picture sorry) earlier. It seemed to help with swallowing but now I can feel it. I would like to hack it back up, but my throat hurts sooo bad I dare not try it. Also talking hurts so I'm left with hand signals, grunts, and very very few words.
My mom and I attempted to go to an urgency medial clinic in our area and they were closed. Had closed an hour before we got there. So I have to wait till 9am to go to the doc's. I don't want to be put on antibiotics because thats a c**p solution the doctors always give you, and you will build an immunity to it.
I don't go to the doctor often 'cause I hardly ever get sick, but when I do its bad. This is also the worst time too because I started a new job 3 months ago and I really don't want to call out because I'm sick. I hope my visit to a doctor tomorrow will shed light on what I have. I know this isn't a normal sore throat so if s/he says that I'll reply "BS" in my barely audible voice.

Wow, I have had this mild soar throat now for about 5 days, my neck feels tight and my pain has moved to my ears very mild and constant. I have no cough but I wake up every morning hoping for this uncomfortable feeling to disappear with only to realize that I still have this problem. I have been a smoker for 20 years and just quit about 3 weeks ago, I'm 34 years old, I excersize regularly, and I eat pretty heathy. I am praying this isn't from smoking!!!! I'm freaking out right now. Oh and yes I was a drinker as well. I realized the only way I personally can quit smoking is if I quit drinking so I made a complete lifestyle change. It would completely suck if i had cancer. It would be o.k. if I didn't have 2 little girls depending on me. I just hope this is just my imagination.

I've had sore throat for about 3 weeks now. It started very mild and usually hurted at night. Now I feel it during the day as well. I also had really strong headaches and nausea - interpreted by my doctor as migraine. She prescribed me several different pills and headache seemed to go away, but I have increasing pain in throat and occasionally have this annoying pain in my ear that goes into my jaw(almost like teeth hurting).
About an hour ago I felt pain in my neck. Started on both sides and now hutingon the right, my lymph node on the right is hard and hurts and i feel slight difficulty breathing.
Has anyone figured out what this may be?
