trying to be nice but it's hard with all the stupidity on this site. like you all read yahoo answers and report. Let me break down herpes because clearly you guys don't have a clue. There are two types, hsv-1 is oral, hsv-2 is genital. Type 1 can end up on your genitals, and type 2 can end up on your mouth. However, they don't like being in the wrong place, so when they are in the wrong place they almost never produce an outbreak after the primary outbreak. Type 1 in the genitals only produces recurring outbreaks in 2 percent of people that get it. Type 2 on your face produces outbreaks at a far lower level than type 1. They are in the same family and both produce the same symptoms, but they are not the same based on where they like to live. In terms of spreading it to ones self, it is possible to spread it to different locations, but only during primary infection. If you don't spread oral herpes to your genitals and genital herpes to your mouth during primary, you will never spread it to a different location because you will have the antibodies in your system. Also, if you have oral herpes on your face, hsv-1, then you cannot get hsv-1 on your genitals from a partner with hsv-1, and likewise if you have hsv-1 on your genitals, you cannot get hsv-1 on your face from a partner who has oral hsv-1. That doesn't mean you can't get oral herpes, you could still get oral hsv-2, but oral hsv-2 would preclude you from getting genital hsv-2.

now this stuff is very complex, so I understand why people simply say don't touch it, don't spread it, and that is the correct answer, but it is not so cut and dry.

Also Herpes loves arginine, so if your arginine/lysine ratio is high, then you are more likely to get an outbreak. That is shellfish/nuts/chocolate/seeds, so the guya bove that said they have nothing to do with it is wrong. That doesn't change the fact that you have to have the virus in your system to have an outbreak, but eating those foods does give you an outbreak. There is honestly so much more for me to say but it's just exhausting. I hope I've helped at least 1 person with a real post though.

Hey have have a pimple like bump on my lower lip line, I’ve been freaking out thinking it was a cold sore but I tested negative for HSV 1 and 2 so I think it’s just a pimple?? Idk I need reassurance... it hasn’t clustered or scabbed over and it’s on my lip line not my lip.

I have a place under my nose on my upper lip area that looks like a cold sore, but doesn't seem to heal with any type of cold sore medication. What could it be?
