Hi, my child has communicating hydrocele. Why this condition develops and are children predisposed for developing such a disorder?

A hydrocele are formed when fluid draining downwards from abdominal cavity accumulates in the scrotal sac. It is seen in male infants and is manifested by swollen or large scrotum. Communicating hydrocele present condition when fluid in scrotum communicates with fluid in abdominal cavity. This results from the failure of the processus vaginalis, if it is not completely developed in prenatal period. Processus vaginalis extends through the inguinal canal and descends into the scrotum. If this membrane remains open there is a chance for hydrocele and hernia.
