HSV-1 is a very prevalent infection. More than half of adults in the US have acquired it, and many are asymptomatic. Asymptomatic means no cold sores, but you can certainly get a tingling sensation. Odds alone would suggest that it could be hsv-1. Having hsv-1 puts you in the same boat as the majority of the population. Most people acquire it in childhood, but your likelihood goes up with each decade of life. If you do not get recurrent cold sores, consider yourself blessed. If you do, then you unfortunately have to deal with symptoms of an infection you couldn't avoid unless you lived in a cave your entire life. Either way, there should be no stigma to oral hsv-1. It is ubiquitous I am a doctor, and I hope this info helps.

I had impetigo. It was bad on my lip and beside my eye. I went to 2 doctors and got put on a oral cream and 2 antibiotics. It took 3 months to heal. I have a scar on my lip but the tingle NEVER goes away! I hate that feeling. Hope you get better soon. :)

I started having that same tingling, irritating, swelling feeling in my lip 13 days ago; it hasn't gone away since. But the tingling and irritation increasingly been reduce every day, the first thing I started to use was Releev(creating more of an irritation), the second thing I tried was Herpecin-L Lip(wish slightly help with swelling and irritation, nice to have when on the go), I finally tried to use the gel of an Aloe Vera plant on my lip and taking L-Lysine Tablets 1000 Mg(It helped tremendously, almost instantly stopping 85-90% of all my symptoms). I haven't yet to develop a fever blister/cold sore, my lips just get really irritated and chap. I also have gone trough a dozen forums and information websites, that point to this to be a cold sore/HSV even though some of the symptoms are asymptomatic.

I got a cold sore for the first time about 6 months ago. It went away after taking meds. About 2 months later, I started getting random, very slight tingling, in the same spot, but no cold sore. It's very slight, but on and off, constantly. It's so minor, that I barely notice it, but then like tonight, I notice it so it prompted me to google to see if anyone else has experienced this. My doctors said they never heard of such a thing!!

I do smoke weed pretty regularly, I used to smoke cigarettes but it's been a few months and definitely a few years since I've been a daily cigarette smoker. I have never gotten cold sores before, but I accidentally drank out of a friend's water bottle the other day. I am freaked out, I really don't want to have my lips ruined :( they are kinda cute. I feel like if I went to a doctor they would totally undermine me and say I'm fine. I also get what I guess is called, "burning mouth syndrome," which is really just a doctors way of saying that "it's harmless and your fine." there's no way to treat it, and it's not contagious-but my tongue will literally just burn as if it's been burned with boiling water. It starts out slow and gets worse throughout the day. Sometimes can last for a few weeks at a time. It's f*****g painful, and yet doctors have the audacity to say it's "harmless." Yeah it's Harmless to YOU as****e.
Anyway, are your symptoms on lips like mine? Do you guys have joint pain? I have very bad joint pain in my knees especially. Sometimes hips. I try to stay on top of vitamins. I eat healthy. I take an antidepressant. Just started, and I suppose this lip tingle is kind of new.
