Hi all. I'm scheduled for abdominal supracervical hysterectomy next week to remove a 20 week size fibroid and several small ones in center of uterus. I’ve had constant urinating problem and my md and I are assuming that it is due to the big fibroid resting on the bladder. But, today, when I asked my md if she was going to repair the bladder if need she told me NO. I immediately called my insurance company to see if the reason was financial but there was none. Is there anyway around this so I won't have to be cut open twice??? Please respond asap.

A very large fibroid certainly can cause frequent urinating. It may also aggravate stress incontinence as well. I think that bladder surgery at this time could be ill-advised. Als, bladder surgery will only correct some types of incontinence but can aggravate others!! You should perform bladder surgery only if the problem indicates a likely improvement in control if such surgery is carried out. As for the bladder repair I really can’t tell you anything helpful.
