...Parasites,parasites, PARASITES.

These things are most likely worms and worm eggs or some other nose parasite. Not joking. The eggs are microscopic and can be transfered by contaminated food/water/dirt/pets. (Or even your own weed).

For some reason DOCTORS DO NOT TAKE PARASITES SERIOUSLY. IF YOU HAVE THEM, THERES A GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL NOT BE DIAGNOSED PROPERLY BY A DOCTOR. (...or at least on your first attempt. Find someone to take you seriously.)

I don't know what the medical community gains by ignoring this problem (just read HOW MANY people on the internet are misdiagnosed or simply ignored about their nose parasites) but with the world getting smaller and people traveling everywhere, parasites are not out of the ordinary to suspect, even in cleaner areas.

If you have these balls of phelgm, especially with black in it, cleanse yourself immediately. Worm, parasite, etc. Work on a regimen. Definitely see a doctor but DONT let them ignore the possibility of parasites. They will try.

Tonsilloliths are not what this person is referring to.. tonsilloliths are not clear or jelly-like. Tonsilloliths also carry with them a very offensive odor, the mucus/phlegm balls people are referring to have NO odor, and are not opaque like tonsilloliths.

Are we no closer to solving the mysterious round jelly ball illness?? This is crazy, I have had these balls for years. They don't come out very often and mostly I have ignored them as they are not troublesome.

We do need a definitive answer... Someone must know!!

It's called many things. Sputum plug. Mucus plug (not to be confused with a cervical mucus plug). Laennec's pearl. It's basically sputum (mucus that comes up from your chest, rather than down from your nose). Could be an indicator of a chronic respiratory problem like asthma or copd. Or, could be an infection like pneumonia. However, because mucus can also come up the esophagus, it could be related to GERD. Long time smoking or use of antihistamines weakens your esophageal sphincter, allowing fluid to bubble back up into your chest. If you are that person who constantly hocks mucus no matter how many antihistamines you take, you may have a gastrointestinal issue, not just "allergies." But, to answer the original question, it's your throat's version of a booger, basically. My throats always itches and burns like hell before I cough one out, then feels eerily cold afterwards.

Omg i have this problem!! There jelly balls, and mine have brown sh*t that's not apart of the ball it just comes up with the ball? But yes there like fire balls you'll even cough the slightest and they'll go right on your hand, but I also have tonsil stones so I know it's not the same.
