My mother in law has been diagnosed with crohn’s disease. I know that it is a form of inflammatory bowel disease. I would like to know how serious it is. Can it lead to bowel cancer? Is this possible? I have read somewhere that it is possible in some smaller percent of the cases, but I am not sure if this is accurate.
Many people are interested in this topic. Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory disease of bowels. Immune cells attack the wall of intestines and colon. In the beginning, symptoms are mild. Diarrhoea and abdominal pain are some of them. On the other hand, smaller percentage of all the patients tends to develop cancer. I think that about 10 % of all patients with Crohn’s disease develop it. Your mother in law should consult her specialist for more details. If you find out anything interesting, please, let us know. Good luck!
