If there is a better anti-depressant I would switch from cymbalta.  I am a 56 year old male with adverse sexual effects from cymbalta. It's causing me a very difficult time to climax during sex.  Many times I don't orgasm but even when I do, as in the case of my wife finishing me off after intercourse, the orgasm is reduced to body twitching.  It's enjoyable I guess but it's not an orgasm.  I also find masturbation too much work for the minimal twitching reward.  Depressing!

Seriously! I have only been on cymbalta for a couple of months...but I thought I was going crazy as I had yet to find anyone else reporting the same symptoms!
I walk around 24hr a day ready to go. If I was not super picky about men I think I would f**k anything that moves:-).
Does this every go away?

Art, Not sure if you've been able to resolve your problem, but thought I would weigh in here. I don't speak as an expert, but from my graduate studies in psychology, a course on psychopharmacology, and my own experiences with antidepressants, there are a few things to try. It depends what you are taking Cymbalta for (I take it for chronic pain, but most take it for depression. I am a 27 year old male).

-Wellbutrin is one of the only "newer" anti-depressant that has low sexual side effects, such as inorgasmia or ED. You could switch meds completely to this, but it might be worth augmenting what you are on now.

-Wellbutrin can be added to Cymbalta to help with depression. They are different drug categories, and your physician will likely reduce your dose of Cymbalta (20-40 mg) and add 150-300 mg Wellbutrin. It would take a few weeks to start working -Viagra can be successfully added to your regimen at 50 to 100 mg of Viagra 1 hour before sex. It has the potential to increase erectile ability, as well as to improve orgasm in both men and women

-Response to anti-depressants are idiosyncratic, meaning they affect individuals differently. So other "new" drugs such as Effexor, Strattera, or Remeron will likely have similar effects, but one of these could do the trick due to individual response differences. You could consider switching drug classes at this point. Cymbalta is a serotonin-nor-epinephrine re-uptake inhibitor. You could try the other anti-depressant classes: pure serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), or Tricyclics.

The most important thing in taking an anti-depressant is to work with a competent psychiatrist. Avoid family or primary care physicians. They mean well, but simply aren't educated enough on psychopharmacology.

Just because you're no longer starving and miserable doesn't mean you can't relax and enjoy gourmet hors d'oeuvres.

viagra and cialis lower blood pressure if anything. they might be a concern if you suffer from hypotension but not hypertension. they are especially risky when taken with inhalants that contain nitrates such as "poppers."

For the men here that have ED issues from Cymbalta, try taking 3000-4000 mg of L-Arginine daily. Honestly, it is a miracle drug for ED related to Cymbalta. L-Arginine is great to build muscle and working out, but is best because in dramaticallu increases blood flow to all viens and vessels, seriously, it works, simple as that. Give it a week or two and you will start to get some of the biggest boners of your life.

I am so surprised to see all of these posts about decreased libido. Actually, my doctor warned me that I might have a delay in achieving orgasm, but the opposite has happened. I am a 23 year old female, and I am on a daily dose of 30 mg. I went from being sexually active about twice a week, to needing it multiple times every day. I think about sex constantly, and even after I achieve orgasm, I am not satisfied. I want more. You could say my sex drive has increased dramatically.

I am the same on Cymbalta. I can keep my erection and have an intercourse for close to an hour without an orgasm if I chose so. Definitely a plus when you have a slower partner.

I am a 43 year old male. Was on Cymgen for 3 years. Helped allot with my depression but from a sex life point of veiw , I couldn't climax or it would take "forever". The interest was there but very frustrating. It took me 6 months to wean myself off this medication by reducing the dosage by actually counting the little balls in each capsule and reducing the amount every day. Within about 2 months of being off the meds I started to feel more " normal" sexually, I was able to climax quicker and started looking forward to sex again without viewing it as a marathon each time. This drug without question causes you to become anorgasmic

Hello friend. I'm 44 and in the same boat however Viagra works awesome! As far as your bp, viagra was invented to lower bp until they found the real "bonerfet" of the drug. Btw, I'd rather feel better 23 1/2 hours a day than worry about achieving an erection. I have a supportive wife and if it's "not my night" I can still help it be hers! Cheers and stay positive!

I have been on various antidepressants in the past and have had that same problem. It sucks because you finally feel happy enough to have sex, but you cannot finish. My problem. And I am not sure it is a problem, I am just very curious about something. I am also on cymbalta and I am having the opposite effect. My libido has not increased, but I am having increased sensation, extremely. I am having the most intense orgasms of my life. I am 45 and I'm perimenopausal. I am curious if it is the meds or the hormones or what. I am hoping it lasts. It is great for me, but my reaction or over reaction to the slightest stimulation is almost embarrassing. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? In the past it has taken at least 10 minutes for me to climax, but now it takes less than a minute. It's just really strange
