I am a 55yr old female, I had a hysterectomy at age 36 with removal of right ovary & a bladder hitch after 5 children. I am now post menopause with long standing symptoms of vaginal dryness & recurrent thrush. G.p decided to take some swabs & get a pelvic ultrasound. to look at remaining ovary's health. The scan appeared normal, & although my remaining left ovary was not visibile( which I was told by the radiographer in the city that it is common at my age not to be able to see it on ultrasound especially if it is a normal study as it is now quite small as no eggs anymore) . The thing that is worrying me is that the scan also showed a " small 7mm cystic lesion at the vaginal vault.""
When I attended my G.p for results she told me my swabs had not arrived back yet, she said scan was okay except for this lesion. G.p didnt seem to explain what this meant & said wait till swabs were in. I dont know what swabs were for ( assumed just check for thrush so dont know how they tie in with her telling me what is & what is done about this cystic lesion. I feel left in the dark, cofused & thiking the worst. I cant help but be concerned as dont know what this means or where the lesion is actually at. Is the vaginal vault at the top of the vagina like where the cervix is or is the entrance to vagina??
I dont actually have have a cervix as it was also removed with hysterectomy. She was not helpful at all as to where ithe lesion is actually at.actually was?? I did try asking her but she was hurried with a room full in the clinic & wanted me out the door till next visit which is two weeks time as I live rurally in small country town & she is booked out.
I am wondering if anyone can tell me what a a cystic lesion is in the vagina & what is done about it if anything ?? Has anyone else had this please?? Thanks for reading this , I hope someone on this forum can help with some information,as my mind is unsettled & worried. Our new g.p is new to the practise & her accent is strong Indian & difficult to understand, dont get me wrong , we are lucky to have her here. Any ideas or info of anyone elses experiences & knowledge would be appreciated. Kind Regards from Victoria.
