Hello, I am 43 years old and I am a diabetic. Actually, I have been that for no more than three weeks and for now, I am only taking pills, I did not come to the shots yet. Still elevated glucose level in my blood is a clear sign how dangerous my situation really is. I would like to know if dehydration has anything to do with those elevated glucose level.
Well, if we are talking about diabetes, we have to mention that elevated glucose levels can induce cellular dehydration. Because of the high glucose level in the blood (hyperosmolar environment), water molecules are leaving the cell. And there is also extracellular dehydration, which happens when high glucose level in urine stops reabsorption of the fluids.
