Depo provera break through bleeding caused bacterial vaginosis- BV

I totally freaking know what your going through I've been on depo for almost a year and was getting bv non stop never did I have bv until I got on depo and I was non stop bleeding for a good 8 months while I was on depo. DEPO is terrible !! And I'm never taking that c**p again.

Before i went on any kind of birth control i got random yeast infections here an there. I went on the birth control pill and had a yeast infection and on bv the whole entire year i was on it. i switched to depo and my vagina was perfect!!! i got off depo not because of horrible side effects or because i wanted to start a family but because i hated that it made me gain wait. i lost 10 pound within a week. but my vagina hates me again. is it just because my body is going through changes? or am i gonna be doomed with yeast infections for ever? gahhhh i hate being a woman.

Juts because you 'wrap up' doesn't mean you won't get pregnant. Condoms do break.

wow I believe I have the same problem because I'm on the Depo shot and every time we have sex it smells bad and its kind of embarrassing because I don't have std but I strongly believe it had to to with my first and second child. The doctor told me that I have some kind of imbalance thing. I just wonder how do you get rid of it and I believe that it's getting worse.

same it happened to me as well. i hate depo it ruined me. how is your bleeding though has it stoped?

You are definitely not alone. The smell of the odor caused me to question my boyfriends faithfulness. Its was terrible and I was bleeding nonstop. Deposit provera is the worst. I wouldn't recommend it.

I'm noticing tht almost everyone is having the same problem so I feel relieved tht I'm not the only one. ino the shot has tht bad side effect, but I'm so use to having light spotting for a week1/2 (when the shot wears off). I never had this problem when I was 18 nd taking the shot. I even stopped having periods. 3 years later, I started taking it again after my lil girl was born nd I've had about 3 cases of bv. I was told it was scented soaps, eat more yogurt or other things with good bacteria , change my diet, nd drink more water till finally my doctor said it could be the old blood thts still in me. So I have to ask myself, do I want to change BC nd have more periods or stay with depo knowing in three months I will get bv again?

I feel the same way. I've even thought tht my boyfriend was cheating because of the odor. but bv isn't sexually transmitted (so I've been told by my doctor) but the smell is getting to me. I cnt be intimate with him nd I think if I could smell it, maybe others do to. washing it just makes it worse :(

After reading all if these posts I'm so scared...I've been on the depo shot for a year now, and after my second shot I started to bleed during and after my boyfriend and I had sex and it still hasn't stopped, I was treated once for bv but the odor still hasn't gone away. I am so afraid it will never go away, I really want to have kids someday, should I call my doctor and tell him that I want to stop? Any recommendations as to what I should do after I stop?

the best thing I can tell you is don't let him ejaculate in you for a while or the doctor can prescribe you antibiotics. It takes a while for it to wear off so your body can start over again but i really don't recommend the shot for the next time around...

I got on the depo on Aug of 2012 and I bled until march of 2013 and I only had one shot once my body had a normal period again it was the worst period I had ever had and now every other week I'm having one while I was on the shot I was a completely different person I was so mean and emotional it was driving me literally insane and the constant bleeding made it worse and now that my body is trying to go back to normal my bv is coming back and my sex drive is completely gone getting the shot was the worse decision I have ever made and I will never do it again

I've  been on the shot now for 2 years and 2 months. during the first 6 months I had my period regularly. After that until now I have had no periods at all. I've gained 20 lbs. which i have no complaints on cuz i use to be super skinny 120. now 140. :)

The downside i got a bacteria infection in Nov. of 2012 and it cleared as soon as i took prescribed meds. Then in January i started havin light discharge and a very foul odor. I thought i had an STD come to find i had bacterial vaginosis. I told the doc is there anything i can tak to prevent this cause it's been twice in 2 months already (not knowing it was because of the depo) the doc said it had to do with my age and menstruation, blah blah, blah... i received antibiotics again and it went away. she said if it happened again there was some form of cream i would have to insert all the way inside and that would help better.

Here it is now April and that foul odor now another 2 months later has come back. I'm due for the depo next month. I searched online to see if my depo had anything to do with this infection as much as its been occurring and i see from these posts it has been. so i will not be going for that shot next month. in fact i may just stay off birth control for a while. not like i'm having sex anyways and i've successfully gained the weight i always wanted. :)

they must have changed what is in it at some point....when i first took it in 06 afetr having my first child everything was great i loved it... then went off it in 09 and had my second child and started it again thinkin it would be great...it wasnt i took the shot twice then got sick of bleeding so got off it and had my third child in 2012....not thinkin the bleeding coujld be linked to depo cuz i took it again after he was born and have been bleeding ever since... i wonder if they have changed what is in it?? and if so why arent the brochures edited?

OMG, I have been wracking my brain for about a year to why I constantly have BO and constant BV.  I guess i have made my decision to go off depo. 

SAME HERE!!! I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE.
