It sucks to have the depo vera shot especially if youre not told about the side effects, and you have never done it.. Iron pills may help but definitely do research and  go to the doctor. because the bleeding ruins many women's lives.. I wish they had a bc method to stop the bleeding for good..and not make it so heavy..

I think this depo vera shot made me realize about my life and change it which is to eat healthier, and lose weight as well. Take care of myself and give myself better vitamins and all by being conscious about what I eat... I pray my periods stop and although I will be still seeing a doctor because I am worried, scared for my life that I had depo vera injected into my system not knowing about it, I had a completely healthy body and still have a chance.. God give me my normal period and body back..

I actually only came on this site to see if the side effects due to the depo shot were normal, and to some extent, I am relieved to find out they are. I got my first Depo back in Febuary of 2012, and the only immediate side effect was cramping so bad that I was taking to the doctors due to concern that I may have been having a miss carriage(I was not pregnant). After that, it was wonderful for the next 6 months, no issues, no periods, no worries. I noticed a slight, but immediate difference after my third shot on August 16th 2012. On September 9th, of 2012(just under a month after my third shot) I began to have slight spotting, at the same time I broke out into severe hives. After two weeks of this, I went to the emergency room, just to be told there was nothing wrong. This continued on until about a week ago(November 13), along with nausea, occasional vomiting, joint pains in my hips, and knees, blurred vision and dizziness so severe I have a hard time standing for extended periods of time. I would be getting my next shot this coming week, but have decided against it, because now, most of these symptoms are slowly disappearing. Now, don't get me wrong, I have heard wonderful things about the shot, and I have NO proof that the blurred vision, dizziness, and hives have anything to do with the Depo shot. Though, I have seen multiple other reviews of women relating to many of my other symptoms, so finding out for sure, is not a risk I am willing to take.

The depo can cause irregular periods where they skip. It can also cause you to have no period at all. I myself am on depo since november after having my 3rd child. My ob gyn told me these two side effects were normal. If you still have concerns, i advise you to see your ob gyn for further information or reassurance.

Do not use depo, the side effects are horrible! I've been on depo for 6 months and I've got really sick of it. I get dizzy, blurred vision, and sometimes rapid heartbeat. Just now I started getting bad stomach pain.

I took the depo shot only once last year. Now me and my boyfriend are trying to conceive; it's been 2 months and I get my period every time. I'm 20 years old and scared I'm infertile. What can I do?
