Hi to all, i have been reading over you comments and i cant believe how bad this depo injection is.
I had the depo injection over 3 years ago and apart from it taking 15 months before i became pg after coming off it, i was fine on it no side affects at all so i decieded to go back on the depo has i dont want any more children i thought it be ok for me to go back on the depo has it was ok for me before, i had it done on friday (10 oct) and today saturday (11 oct) i woke up with pain and muscle ache in my right leg the same side that i had the injection in and midday i started getting belly pains, from reading the post i can see that belly pains are a side affect but has anyone had the same thing with there legs?

My reasons were:
At first i bled for 2 months straight, then stopped all together, about 3 years later bled heavily again.
Weight gain, i used to be a size 10 (british) now i am a size 22. I used to be a healthy weight, now it is totally uncontrollable. I have tried to loose weight, i never lost the weight, but did get 2 dress sizes smaller, but that was when i was off the injection. Dieting and exercise was how i lost it, i tried even harder once i got to a size 18, but the bloody weight wouldnt shift!
I am tired all the time. Even when ive had enough sleep.
I have bad abdominal pains.
Clotting, but no periods, brown sludge really.
Bad migraines.
Muscle and bone pains in legs, hips, arms/elbow joints and also pain in my jaw.
Really bad boils.
Severe mood swings/depression/paranoia.
Please do not use this, there are more health problems that i havent listed. Please research and listen to people.

My mother was on the shot for 7 years. The only side affect she said she had was her bones were greatly effected. she now as osteporosis, she was 40 when diganosed and her bones are equivalent to a 70-yr- old bones.
I was thinking about getting on it, but want to know if for short term use, are the side effects severe and does your period completely stop?

i had 3 shots and it messed up my body from my weight, to my mood, i never got any problems with the pill i only went on the depo for a change but i regret it! and i will never use it again!

Honey, I am a 24 year old female that has been on depo for six months and bleed all the way through all the months. You will not have much energy at all and it is very painful. I have had to be hospitalized 3 times because I was using 12 pads every hour. Now that I am off I am bleeding and have not been able to have sex with my husband for six long months. And that is how long I have been married. Take my advice DO NOT TRY IT.
i have been on depo since 2000 around 8yrs on and off mostly on! i have gained some weight,had chronic fatigue,depression,headaches but think that's about it and no periods for most of that 8yrs which is why i stayed on it so convenient,whenever i did stop for a few months the period was awful,dirty horrid 3week long cramps were agonizing and seemed as if it would never stop!! i had a bone density scan in 2005,no problems was advised to continue with depo, had never bothered researching depo i just presumed my gyno gave it so should be safe???I went to my family GP the other day and she was horrified that i was still on it she suggested that i come off it asap as the future prospects are crippling and deathly!! she was very stern this made me think about researching it, i am very concerned now,what damage has this already done to my body? how long til i am normal again?why are young girls being given this if the serious effects later in life are not told?? i would advise to try other options!!

i began the deop shot jan. of 08 and i got off of it in jan 09. i still have not seen my period. my doctor tells me i might get it in april. the side effects took a heavy toll on my relationship. my boyfriend and i are no longer together. my breast hurt and i have no desire for sex. i just want my life back. once i get back regular, no more birth control for me!!!!

What about a rapid weightloss? Also the craving to eat more and more when your eating alot already? and The Constant Belly Aches in the morning and at night? Are these all side effects because according to you all I should be gaining weight instead of loosing it rapidly.
I have used depo provera in the past and did not have any major side effects besides constant spotting and headaches. It's been 3 years and I've had a child and decided to get back on Depo. I took my first shot about one month ago. All of a sudden this week, I started to feel dizzy but I was still able to function. I started my period and it was very heavy. The dizziness is way worse and now I can't stand up for longer than a minute or play with my one year old daughter. I'm extremlely fatigued and the heavy bleeding doesn't seem to be stopping. Also my blood pressure has been all over the place. I would do some major research before trying this contraceptive. It has several side effects.
I started the shot in feb. 2009 and stopped after my second shot i had headaches constantly hungary had brown discharge for weeks and then would be completely dry. Love making was out of question. Now that I am not on it my hair is falling out, I have no periods, tired all the time, crampy, very very very light spotting only twice this week. Aslo I have constipation and poos. Nothing in between I believe it has messed me up and will be mad if I cannot conceive, which I am trying. The only thing good is I have non problem with the dryness now. I hope that girls know to check there options and ask lots of questions, do ur research!
Ive considered going off it for reasons similiar as yours. Maybe it's good for your body to get rid of the chemicals and start fresh. its hard to tell if some symptoms are caused by the chemicals or because what life brings us. theres so many factors that could be to blame.

Okay guys so I've been on the depo since I was 17yrs I'm 26 next month and my last shot was due january 2012.... Crazy thing is everyone told me it would take a while until my cycle came back well guess what friday 13th april 2012 mid afternoon the cramps kicked in and without mother nature didn't prolong it the same afternoon my cycle followed. I guess I should be excited but I'm moody and my cycle stops and starts. Tired a lot and actually wondering if I'm pregnant, is this possible will be excited if am but anyone else had same thing. Also I love chinese I took two bites and then wanted to throw up and its been this way with a few things... Is my body playing tricks on me
It's so hard to understand somebody and what they are going through. I personally have never taken birth control before. Now, that I have experienced it I am happy and will never do it again... Depo-No vera. never do it again its horrible and not good for me..
