I have diabetes and find it difficult eating sensibly when on the move. I travel a lot and that makes it difficult to regulate my diet. Does anyone have some suggestions on how I could do this? I'm always getting food at the convenience store or fast food places. I end up eating donuts sometimes and crackers to keep me from feeling so hungry. I thought about putting some food in the car but I'm not sure what I should stock up on. I've thought about trying some health shakes but not sure which ones are best for me. I think they can drink them warm or cold from what I've seen. Any ideas? Thanks.

I think anyone that is diabetic has problems eating sensibly when on the move. I know I do. In fact, most people do whether they are diabetic or not. When you're diabetic, regulating your diet is everything. It's important to take the time to determine a weekly menu if not monthly and write it down. You can keep a diet log to help you with this. As far as foods to carry in the car, if you're driving a lot, the health shakes are a good idea. In fact, those can be bought at any convenience store in the cold isle. You can keep some in the car for times when you can't stop to get something to eat. If you have a small cooler, put some ice in it and put a shake six pack in it so it will be ready and waiting for you. Make sure to read the what ingredients are in the shake. There are so many. Some are very healthy and others are not. Protein wise, some contain soy protein while others contain whey. Many have low sugar for carb control and are loaded with vitamins and minerals. And, you can bring some fruit with you or munch on some veggies and dip while you are driving. I often do this. Hope that was of some help.
