Hello, I am a medical student and I am doing some work about Diastematomyelia. I am seeking for all the information I can get about Diastematomyelia. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I only know this much about Diastematomyelia. It refers to a sagittal division of the spinal cord into two hemicords, not necessarily symmetric. Each of which contains a central canal, one dorsal horn and one ventral horn. The signs and symptoms of diastematomyelia may appear at any time of life and Females are affected much more commonly than males. Cutaneous stigmata such as patches of hair, nevi, lipomas, dimples, and hemangiomas override the affected area of spine in more than 50% of cases. Neurologic symptoms are nonspecific.
