Well, I guess I'm a believer, because when I listen to dad talk about it, he makes perfect sense that it's quite possible that we're not the only ones that exist.
Dad is a ufo junkie. We were just talking about it yesterday, and what his views are regarding gravity & propulsion relating to space ships. Dad is also convinced too that he's SEEN one. Since I wasn't there, I cannot say one way or the other.

oooh this is good...
genie-
im not sure at this point what his point is. he likes to throw out random topics for us to write about to make us think. i also think he gets a kick out of reading some of them.
he said it would come back later in the semester. i think hes gonna tie it in with the e-word (evloution)

Why the universe is silent....Broadcasting your presence is probably a huge mistake...we've been doing it for about 75 years now..
1.Their survival will be more important than our survival.....if an alien species has to choose between them and us, they won't choose us. It is difficult to imagine a contrary case; species don't survive by being self-sacrificing.
2. Wimps don't become top dogs. No species makes it to the top by being passive. The species in charge of any given planet will be highly intelligent, alert, aggessive, and ruthless when necessary.
3. They will assume that the first two laws apply to us.

He'd fit in perfectly here. ;)
you have no idea!
cmon PH, what are you views about this topic?

No. God created just us. Period.Interesting. But I must ask: She created all the other planets, but with no life? What purpose did that serve? Your argument seems illogical and egocentric.
I'm pro-alien but anti-prodding.
That is interesting. She created us with enough differences so she would stay entertained watching us fight continually, just think of the fun of watching interplanetary battling.
Another interpretation of this could be that Jesus was speaking about the Jews as 'his people' and the Gentiles (or Greeks) as those 'other people' that needed to be brought into the fold.
I find it a little arrogant for us to believe we are God's only creation.
I know of religious folk who don't believe there were dinosaurs.
I think this creation is far too vast and far reaching to say with certainty that we are all that has been created.
How do we know that God doesn't have another cosmos with another "earth" spinning along just like us.
I always like to wonder--are they doing a better job with their earth than we are? Are they getting along better than we are? Does God like them better?
*This is not meant to offend those who don't believe in God. I happen to believe that we are created by God, but the same questions still hold for however you believe we came to be.

yes, but that isn't clear is it? just offering a thought on something that could be.....
You're right, it's not really clear. Unless you take it in context with all of Paul's journeys and writings.
but Jesus and Paul did not meet during Christ's earthly life (just that road to Damascus-conversion episode) so Paul understood Christ's words second-hand, and at times, it is hard to see that Paul understood it all. (that "keep the women in their place" stuff) Other scriptures re-inforce the "first to the Jews, then to the Gentiles" thing and would indicate that Christ was meaning the "other sheep" were those outside of the Jewish race.
All that to say this: it's a provocative thought. there are some scriptures that defy explanation, and some that seem absolutely clear until we stumble across something like this, and others that reach out and smack us on the head with their bluntness. I'd like to think that maybe God tried again on some other planet after we messed things up back in Eden.

Don't forget, in addition to the vast spatial expanse is a vast chronological expanse.
The universe is billions of years old. Even if in this present day and time there is no life out there, that doesn't mean there has not been before us or will not be after.
There may be populations dying out or just beginning somewhere out there.
When you think in terms of a large unknown area over billions of years, I think sheer probability says that at one time life has existed elsewhere.
