Btw, I am 29, you only have to listen to the hook of the FDB song to get the point, I smoke mainly from a vaporizer and am starting to supplement some of my routine smoking with routine eating :-)
learn how to make cannabis sugar and then put it in whatever juice you like, or make or buy cannabis butter and use that instead of regular butter when you make your Oatmeal in the morning ;-)
Again, on a serious tip, good luck to everyone in their fight!!!

I am 27 and have been smoking heavily for 7 years(weed and cigs). Just had a blood test and my doctor was amazed how low my Cholesterol levels are. I rarely exercise and do not have a decent diet. I am slim though and have good blood pressure. No one is fat in my family so I really think it down to genetics.

This is an article from WebMD. My initial search was "marijuana and triglycerides"
I researched it after receiving my results from Lipid Panel bloodwork tests done for my annual physical in 3/2014. My triglyceride levels more than doubled in two years of smoking-158 to 385. My HDL and LDL levels were within acceptable ranges. However high triglyceride levels indicate lipids-fats-which are building up in the bloodstream and can lead to strokes and other cardio problems. There are no outward signs till you have an "event."
It was very clear. I stopped smoking cold turkey and came clean with my PCP-primary care physician. I will detox and retake the tests. Up to this point all I knew about were the benefits of smoking. Now I know the actual facts from seeing the change in my own body from the labwork. This happened with the last 10 days and I think for your own sake you might want to seriously consider making some life affirming decisions. It was wakeup call for me. Be Well.

May 13, 2008 -- Smoking marijuana results in changes in the bloodstream that may put chronic users at risk for serious cardiovascular problems such as heart attack and stroke.
Researchers with the National Institute on Drug Abuse say the active chemical in marijuana, THC, causes the body to overproduce a protein called ApoC-111. ApoC-111 is linked to high triglycerides (blood fats) because of problems with the breakdown of blood fats in the body.
The study results are published in the May 13 issue of Molecular Psychiatry.
The researchers note that marijuana's effects from heavy, long-term use have been linked to neuorological problems such as learning difficulty and strokes.
Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug in the United States, according to the journal report.

For the study, Jean Lud Cadet, MD, with the Molecular Neuropsychiatry Branch at the National Institutes of Health Biomedical Research Council in Baltimore, and colleagues looked at blood samples from 18 regular marijuana users and 24 nonusers. They found that chronic pot smokers had significant increases in blood levels of ApoC-111. They also found an association between ApoC-111 levels and elevated levels of triglycerides.
Cadet's team says that THC binds to cannabinoid receptors that are located in different areas of the body, including the brain, heart, and liver. They believe the chemical chronically overstimulates the receptors, leading to a steady increase in ApoC-111 levels and accumulation of triglycerides in the blood.
The findings suggest that THC-related increases in levels of ApoC-111 might be a "significant player" in the cardiac and cerebral problems observed in chronic marijuana users, Cadet's team writes in the journal article.

Most of the vegetarian don't have to suffer from cholesterol. So, I think the marijuana is the reason behind it, also your age is big number. You will never know what's gonna happen to the old people. Since you are desperate not to let go the marijuana then add something more like magnesium. It will help widely to balance, just like a MAGNESIUM MIRACLE.

The high LDL has nothing to do directly with marijuana.
However, it has been discovered in recent years that for most people, consumption of carbohydrates is the main cause of high colesterol (much more than the consumption of red meat etc.). The only link between Marijuana and high LDL that I can think of is the macheese (the urge to eat when you are high on Marijuana - if under the influence you eat a lot of "healthy" food rich with carbohydrates than this is probably the cause.
Regardless of smoking or not smoking Marijuana, eat less carbo for one week and then get tested and see the results.

hey all, i'm a student of holistic nutrition and a certified facilitator of lifestyle medicine
firstly, all of the people here who are concerned about their LDL do not have high or in danger levels. anything near the 200 or below is an elevated level, 200-240 is high, and 240 mg/dl and above is danger mode
therefore, i'd listen to the guest who mentioned not to listen too much to the scare tactics of western medical industry who heavily leans towards getting patients to come back for medications and unnecessary complicated procedures. we have to stop turning to humanity to cure our bodies because it never created it. instead we have to return to nature, THE SOURCE of all true healing.
second, the best medicine by far is lifestyle medicine i promise you. as much as possible lean towards a purely ORGANIC PLANT-BASED DIET. emphasis on organic. eating them as grown, as in living and uncooked works best. so no meat, no fish, no eggs, no dairy is the goal. the sooner you can get your diet to this natural level the better.
you have to increase your exercise or exercise regularly. if you're old or dont' work out regularly, then start with reaching around 10,000 steps per day minimum. get a pedometer to encourage you to keep track of your steps. movement is life.
you have to also lessen your alcohol intake. either lessen or phase it out completely. the same goes for caffeine, unfortunately. fresh apple in a juicer is better for waking up than caffeine - then you add lots of carrots to that and other veg of course
although, to be perfectly honest, it is best to eventually transition to vapor smoking and using a vaporizer of course since smoke does have carcinogens still. but if we think in simple terms, fire is a natural thing and we wouldn't know how to smoke MJ in vapor form if we were in primitive days so naturally lighting up to smoke a natural super advanced and beneficial plant as MJ couldn't be too bad

Went to doc for routine and my triglycerides were nearly 1000. Total cholesterol was 299, LDL's are normal.
My last exam in May cholesterol was 225 and Trigs were over 600. Doc figured he'd just gotten a bad test as the total had come down.
I have been struggling with cholesterol for a while - pushing 300, but I brought it down into the low 200s. Never seen a problem with triglycerides before though.
Strange part is that last year starting in Oct '14 I went on the waggon. So, for the 9mo before my last test where the Trigs were 600 I had been clean.
Started using again in July, now my triglycerides are in the high 900s and the cholesterol is 299. EEK!
