Anything you smoke is going to be harmful in some way. Marijuana has a strong effect on blood sugar, hormones, blood pressure etc. Also, the munchies can cause you to overeat.
If your a heavy user, you should consider vaping or consuming edibles instead of smoking. Also, reducing the amount you smoke would help. Give yourself a smoking holiday, you will find when you do get high it is more enjoyable and special

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I consider myself a living guinea pig. I am a vegan WFPB with no added oils allowed in my diet. I would teeter with a total cholesterol of between 165-190. Ok, I then went on a burn spree. I do drink 4-5 beers per week. Well, triglycerides were 222 and total chol was 197. And I was cutting back on the raw nuts & consuming as many greens as I could. I can only assume it was the MJ doing the damage. It also boosts the cravings for the fat foods. In my case would be to hit the raw nuts hard. I am now going cold turkey, no POT, no alcohol & also dumping my coffee, which I must admit was about 3 cups a day. If I find this thread, I will post the difference on the next test

I too am in the process of researching the effects of cannabis on, not only cholesterol, and Hypothyroidism, but also Blood pressure. Is there a correlation?
I'm a 75 year old female. Started ingesting CBD oil about 10 months ago. I take the stuff for pain, due to Spinal Stenosis, and Sciatica. I will take a very small amount of THC (orally) at night to help me sleep.
I'm 5'4"", 124 lbs,,,I had Hepatitis A, when I was in college. Though western medicine claims my liver is OK.....I can't help but wonder....since the liver is where cholesterol is made. In other words, I'm questioning my liver, over my lifestyle or diet. This last week I went to the Dr. for a Physical (what a joke)....but aside from that, what perplexes me, is why my blood pressure is suddenly elevated? Is there also a blood pressure/cannabis connection? Typically my BP, throughout my life has been around 120/80....last week 145/? ...YIKES! Since the body is a "whole" then everything that goes on inside, and outside, works in concert to the "Whole".....Does that make sense?
Then, for grins and giggles, throw hypothyroidism into the mix.....One of the "signals" for hypothyroid (low) - (in fact the only one that pertains to me) is High LDL! This all seems to be connected. Is the use of cannabis throwing everything out-of-balance?

my LDL just took a big leap up from last year. (which was somewhat high) only difference..I started using CBD oil twice a day just a week before the test. I'm thinking thc and cbd raise it. I been smoking almost daily for 40 years.

Not true about mostly being a genetic issue. Diet and lifestyle can be what turns on genes or keeps them under control. Genetics is 30% of disease, behavior is most important.
