After being stationed here in secluded NE Maine I would love to be stationed some place with a running community, parks, gyms, etc. When I'm going through the list of possible locations later this year, I will DEFINITELY be using those items in my decision. It's that kind of stuff that really makes me happy to be where I live.

How about set up a 5k?

Ask at the running stores if they would help sponsor it.

I live in So Cal where it's racing season year round! If you live near the coast the temps are mild year round and with very little rain there's just no excuse not to run :D There's no lack of races..... I usually run 30 or more races a year and have to pick and choose which ones I want to do. I rarely have to drive more than a half hour to a race.

Charleston, SC has an AWESOME running community - lots of races thruout the year, plus the new bridge (the longest suspension bridge in the country, I believe) has a pedestrian/bike lane that has really added to the routes in the city. Plus, it's just a wonderful place to live :)
If we were to move, we would absolutely take into account the "runnability" of the new place - not only in selecting a new town, but it would play into where we bought a house as well.
I really really really really really really really would love to move back to the North GA mountains :)
