I had a tubal ligation in 2004. In September of 2008 I had gastric surgery for weight loss. I am now 100+ pounds lighter.
Will this weight loss affect the effectivness of the tubal?
Thanks,
D
Hi:
I don't believe that these two things are connected in any way, unless your doctor told you different. Tubal ligations should not be dependent upon keeping a certain weight. I don't think this is a concern at all. However, if you continue to worry, put yourself at ease by calling an ob/gyn and asking the question of the medical professionals. Enjoy your new form and congratulations. Let us know how you are doing.

The tubal ligation will not be impacted by your weight loss. I'm glad to hear that the surgery was so successful for you so I'm glad that it's working! As for the tubal, though, it should be fine. If you notice any changes in your body at all, any unusual cramps or bleeding or anything like that, then it would be best to consult your physician, but until then, I think everything should be fine. You should check with your doctor just to be sure, but I think it should be fine.

Hey DcaKaiser:
I was wondering how the weight loss is actually going. You didn't mention that. Was your surgery successful? I hope that you are a new person who is very excited about your new lifestyle as a result of the surgery. Is that true? How much has your diet changed? What are the complications of having the surgery, related to your diet? Please let me know how things are going. I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Thanks for the question, I was wondering the same thing. I had lost a lot of weight also. I was thinking did it mess up the tube that was burnt shut. Maybe the weight would go and leave a hole. Just my crazy brain thinking of weird things.
