I had DPU over 20 years ago, treated with prednisone on and off for a 3 year duration, then it was gone. Two years ago it came back. I've been to an allergist and prescribed singulair, pepsid, claritin and xyzal, none of which alleviated my symptoms. I've tried zyrtec on my own, and it didn't help either. My only recourse was to avoid the cause, but that's not always possible. I did find that doing something new that caused pressure for more than 5 minutes would make me miserable, but if I persisted in doing it as a routine, it wouldn't effect me much, like riding a bike, or wearing a new pair of shoes. The other day I had a horrible flair up where my eye was swollen shut, and my lower left leg and foot were swollen to twice the size. I had to use crutches to get around for a few hours, but then that night I had hives and painful swelling from the crutches, figure! I actually spent the evening in the ER from swollen lips, tongue and gums from sampling apples that were growing on our property in the wild. Now I know to cut them up in wedges before I eat apples or anything hard.
It is nice to talk to people who know what I am going through, and I sure have sympathy for you all too.

Hi:
Thank you so much for sharing your story. When people share their experiences it really helps our community. The success stories are great. The learning experiences involved in those success stories is even better. I know that someone with the same condition will become stronger as a result of your sharing. Please continue to do so. We will be waiting to hear the rest of the story. Good luck!
