I am a 20 year old male who is 6'2" 250 lbs. and I have been drinking about 3-10 drinks a night of vodka and/or white wine for 2 years straight. I exercise everyday, I have diabetes that is under control (aside from drinking) and my legs feel squirrelly when I walk. I can feel them, but when I walk i feel like im floating. Its strange. But my Doctor says its withdrawls from the previous night of drinking and that I need to go to rehab or tapper off of it with less alcohol with a lot of exercise. Should I be worried with this? Or should I just stop after a week with 2 drinks a night? feedback welcome.
Hi:
Sorry, but you've got to give up the drinking. Any treatment that you are getting for the diabetes, etc. is being hindered by the drinking. The symptoms that you are having surely indicate this. Yes, you should be worried. You seem to have some level of denial about the effects of drinking. Educate yourself, as you are making decisions that will greatly and negatively impact your future health. You will wish that you had stopped. Take your doctor's advice. Get into rehab. He/she is advising you based upon the full picture, and it must not be good. It's not too late for you apparently, but your current symptoms are not normal and they are just the beginning. Good luck to you. You can do it. Start taking care of yourself. Let us know how your progress is going.
