I have Scoliosis and had a steel rod surgically attached to my spine many years ago. I am always hearing in the news about people who have been tasered by the police. I have never been tasered and don't expect that it would every happen to me. But I am just curious, what would happen if they tasered someone with a steel rod in their spine?
Absolutely nothing out of the normal effects of a taser. you might even get lucky if the probes both hit the rod, which would short out the connection and lessen the amount of current that you're feeling. NO strange health effects though, you won't spark and catch on fire, or become a giant electromagnet for a few seconds.
The taser's electricity goes from one probe to another, so unless that rod IS the connection between the two, it's not going to factor in noticeably. (And, I hate to break it to you, but the chances of both probes hitting the rod.... not likely at ALL)
