Hi, I have been on Effexor for more than 7 years and not until the past 3 months my legs start shaking and it feels like a nervous almost tickeling feeling strong sensation. it is always at night and when I put my feet up on the recliner. I have another post and my past exsperiances on this site. I tried to get off the medication last March and started to feel great, started to loose the weight I have gained and had to go back on it due to a strange like Sever Panic problem, It only would happen once a month but was very sever, shaky, felt cold in chest and arm, extreme spinning.

Did you ever try to talk to a naturopathic doctor. That is where I got my help to get completely off of it. I am using natural products now as needed. I used them when I got off for a while. I don't think I would have made it completely without using these natural products for anxiety/depression.
I had a severe panic problem at the end of removing 1 more bead each day and that is when my dr. gave me some natural things for anxiety that were a big help. I have been able to stay off the effexor only because of that.

I have tried to send this through 2 times and it still hasn't gone through...so it may repeat.
I have taken remedies for depression and anxiety from my naturopathic dr....she gives me guidance on this. I also take 5 HTP at night along with magneisum-calclum vitamins. This helps me sleep....5-HTP helps depression also. I am also on some other vitamins that she has recommended....this has helped a lot. If you can find a homeopathic dr., it would help. I only go to her every few months and right now I am only taking what she recommends and don't have to go for an office visit very often. If you can find one to go to one time to get you started, that would help a lot. They know a lot about natural things for depression and anxiety. If you have any other questions let me know.
Hiya terry god bless you. She is currently taking 250Mg of Effexor, and I'm not sure about the Xanax. Since her doctor put her on this evil about 10 years ago for mild anxiety, her life has never been the same. She too has a fatty liver now, and high enzymes all the time. She has had stays in the Psych ward at the hospital three times. She hears voices, is chronically overweight, they have said obese now. She was always a slender person before this damned medication. She tried to quit cold turkey once and was in the Psych ward by that evening. She has chronic ostearthritis now. The surgeon said to her get off this medication, before you have no bones left. I'd be here for weeks typing down all her symptoms. Sleeplessness, chronic migraines, and a myriad of shocking daily symptoms. If her dose is late she goes off the planet. How in gods name can this drug be allowed still. How can it be in existence? We are in Melbourne, Australia. At her Psychologist visit the yesterday she was getting very anxious and her anger level was rising. She was trying to explain to the doctor that she wants off this medication. The stupid doctor said well I can see you're not really in a talking mood today so I suggest we end this session early.. I mean for petes sakes!!!! I believe they have just put my friend in the "too hard basket" . I know she is a very difficult woman. Most of her friends are gone, having been driven away by her, her moods, her verbal abuse. But I know this Alexia (my friend) is not the Lexy I know and love. This Lexy is a broken poisoned woman, a victim of this drug and its creators, that want profit at peoples expense. I'm frustrated, angry and feel powerless to help her at the moment. I thank god I found this place. I spoke to her mum this morning (discreetly) and she is consulting a Naturopathic Doctor in their town. The doctor has good recommendations and good reports also from word of mouth. Lexy seemed positive at the thought of taking this route and trying the beads. But i think she wants to see the Nat Doctor first before she proceeds. Thankyou Terry, what an inspiration you are. I am so happy that she found a naturopathic doctor. Just be sure that it is a good doctor. Mine was a great help to me getting off the drug with the help of natural remedies. I cannot believe what Alexia has been through. So many people with so many side effects. I keep wishing we could do a class action suit, but can't get a lawyer to accept the case. Even though there are many people who have been damaged, I can't believe that no one will take on this pharm. If you know of anyone in Australia who would do this, please let me know. There are plenty of people o this site who want to be involved. I also can't believe how rude that dr. was. It's because they know nothing more than giving people harmful drugs. It's a disgrace. The best thing she can do is to go to the Naturopathic dr...they have better answers for depression and anxiety. Please keep me posted on what happenes. Hiya everyone, just to give an update. Lexy's mum has made an appointment for Lexy with the Naturopathic Doctor. Lexy is scared and very very hesitant, almost doing it under sufferance but she will go. I'm not sure how its going to pan out. Her current doctors seem to be no help at all. They just keep telling her to stay on the meds because they refuse to admit how hard it is to come off this abomination. She is very aggro at the moment with everyone, and her tremors are really bad right now. I don't think there is much more I can do. She wants to come off this poison but on the other hand believes she needs it. Vicious cycle, which portrays the nature of this forced addiction.

So glad Lexy's mom made an appt. with a Naturopathic dr. This dr. will make all the difference in the world. I was on the effex. for 12 years and have now been off of it for about 6 months. Hope she asks the naturopath if removing 1 bead more each day will help. This is what helped me to get off for good. My prayers are with all of you that this will work. The other doctors are no help at all. I don't even think they know how to get anyone off without the side effects.

I am in Ireland - 12 years in this drug. Developed graves disease as a result of last withdrawal. I am on my last withdrawal now. Killer addictive drug. I have been taking Effexor since 2003 and this medication has now made me Diabetic. Because of this Effexor, since I now am diabetic, I may have developed cancer. I am going to try to ask my doctor to take me off of this medication. I have tried to stop taking this medication "cold turkey", but you are correct; the withdrawing off of this medication is nearly impossible.
