Effexor Class Action Lawsuit

I was unable to get on board. With one. Because of some limitations chit. ,,. Again today. I had to take one 75. I took. I hate this monster pill. And not a thing I can do about it

I. Have the same. Question. As you dear. It's like no one cares. Martin whiner. Has. A petition. To ban them.

I have so been doing the same. Like I'm a lamp that only gets. Turned on. When the med allows it. I'm in a dark hole and can't get out

Hey I took Effexor for sometime also and then just pulled the plug and quite but I had a solid base of understanding to what was really going on to begin with. I see the symptoms of whats called "depression" as a spiritual crisis.

This is an interesting point of view and sometimes we need a shift in our perspective. Most of the world is informed with the fact that big pharma is a huge drug dealing business that is structured for profit. Labels such as bipolar etc don't really fit with the truth of our beingness. There is nothing wrong with us, but there's something that disturbs us on a deeper level. A level most of us don't have a chance to connect with due to the rat race grind that is imposed upon us. The disruption of our Soul through complacency and mediocrity. My spiritual crisis or awakening was the result of temporarily buying in to their belief that something was wrong with me, and that I needed medication and therapy for the rest of my life. It's been almost 10 yrs free from their drugs and a pursuit to understand myself on all levels. We are not human beings here having a spiritual experience. We are Spiritual beings here having a human experience... And sometimes it's not so easy to fall in line and be sheep. I wish you all the best on your journey and I hope you find the strength and courage to safely step away from the drugs. I am so sorry to everyone here who has been put on Effexor and is paying the worst price now and cannot get off of it. A PCP put my daughter on Effexor after my daughter told her primary that she had been depressed since her baby was born. It was obvious postpartum depression and it is treatable with therapy and normal anti-depressants But this doctor was either paid to do it by the pharmcutical company, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, The very FIRST thing this PCP did was put her on it. The primary care doctor didn't even refer her to a therapist or a psychiatrist for evaluation first which is normal protocol. I am filing a complaint to the regional health board..She should never have prescribed anything outside her realm of medicine except for perhaps a proven SSRI (2nd generation) like Wellbutrin and then a social worker or therapist referal to diagnose my daughter. Effexor is a 3rd generation (the newest line of anti-depressants coming out of the pill corporations), so my daughter like everyone on this forum is being used as a guinea pig for these new SNRI's not SSRI's that have already been proven to be effective. This is from an addiction treatment web site that also treats people who are physically dependent ( not addicted ) to Effexor: "It is most often not prescribed as a 'first line' treatment, but instead to patients whose depression does not respond to SSRIs. It is generally avoided as the initial treatment for depression because it can have significant side effects and has been suspected to increase the risk of suicide"

Was your husband put on other medications, SSRI's, that did not work before he was put on Effexor. Or did the doctor jump strait to it? What sort of pain does he have? Was he given Effexor to treat medical chronic pain? If so, you should get a lawyer. In the mean time, I think it is time a petition was started at "Change".Please look it up since I cannot put links on here. If anyone knows someone who is very knowledgeable about the horrible side effects and withdrawals of this medication, please consider a petition. I have yet to find a class action law suit. But there is a well known web site where anyone can start a petition to stop doctors from prescribing it to new patients. It cannot be banned now because there is no one certain effective way, I call it an "anti-dote" to this horrible life changing medication. Scientific papers I have read have stated it is as hard to get off of as heroin. I am furious a primary care physician did this as her FIRST method of treating my daughter's depression. Even her OBGYN was surprised the PCP had access to it. What is happening right now in the U.S. and these big pharmaceutical companies that run our government is appalling. We are leaving the U.S., but I will fight in anyway I can the injustices I see coming from these so called new miracle pills being pumped out of big pharma all for the sake of profit that have done nothing but ruin peoples lives in the name of making money. They know people cannot get off this medication. That is why they are putting young adults females on it as the first medication, females like my daughter who wants to have another child and now she cannot because Effexor causes birth defects and still born births.

I was convinced to go on Venlafaxine the generic for Effexor by my MD. I was told that this RX would help with Post Menopausal symptoms, i.e. hot flashes, night sweats and more. I was sick as a dog when I began this RX. While on it they kept raising the dosage and my symptoms were the same. I was told to wean off and I became so violently ill I thought I was going to die. My children and husband thought so too. I still have the body aches, dizziness, I am frightened about driving and some days I cannot even put two sentences together, my brain is in slow mo and the list of symptoms goes on.

Yes, i experience the withdrawls now and was weaned off several years ago. Not trying to discourage at all...just putting it out there. While the torture of the head shocks, sweats and confused thinking come and go..havent had a day go by without. Have to say that i was on effexor xr for years. Generic

In my mind Effexor should be renamed poison . I have been put on endless medications over the past couple of years which I am sure have done more harm to me. I would suggest you read a book The Sedated Society ... drug companies are cashing in on innocent people who are going through a hard time and killing many off at the same time . FDA and drug companies need serious legal action for the harm they are doing and their misleading inaccurate drug trials - it’s all about money not healing . Best of luck .

I'm so sorry to hear of your suffering. After some research I have discovered that Effexor (Venlafaxine) is none other than an opioid.

I was in effexor for 18 years. I’ve been completely off of it for 5 months. I’m still having horrible symptoms.
Is there a class action lawsuit in the U.S?

Im a 40 year old female. I was on venlafaxine for 6 months. My Dr said it would help with my anxiety and depression. I asked her about side effects, and she told me that the only thing people complained about was sweating. While on the drug, I gained nearly 30 lbs and was tired all the time. I told my Dr I wanted to get off it and she reduced my dosage to half to be taken for 2 weeks. After a week, I started to have hives and woke up one day with my face completely swollen. For the next 3 months, I went through hell. I had head to toe hives, horrible pain all over, swelling all over, pins and needles feeling in my hands and feet, trouble with my vision, and more weight gain. I barely kept my job. I was treated more than once with steroids, and after suffering for 3 months I am finally getting my life back together. My Dr abandoned me in the process, and no one believes that my symptoms were from the venlafaxine, but it's the only thing that changed. This drug is awful. Something needs to be done.

I have been trying to get off this evil drug! I understand what heroin or meth addicts deal with.. it isn't the "high" it's the sick, dying feeling of not having the drug. I have gained almost 90 lbs since starting this drug with little change to diet and exercise.. I want to sue the makers of effexor & generic versions. Noone else needs to go on this medication!!! I've been on it for years and have tried many many times to stop it.. I start getting sick 30 minutes past the 24 hr mark... It's ridiculous!! I have tried weaning over 4 months just from 75 mg!! My body and mind were so crazy, I had to go back to taking it!! Pharmaceutical companies need to be held responsible!!! Doctors need to be held accountable! After months of research, I found a possible way to get off this drug. It's called the Prozac bridge. Effexor has a half life of 24 hrs ..meaning it's out of your system in 24 hrs (similar to cocaine, hummm) and Prozac has a half life of 6 days.. many people say it's been the only way. Soon after getting off effexor it was 1000 times easier to get off Prozac. I wanna know how to go About doing a lawsuit. Any advice?

Can you please tell me if this lawsuit is still active? I too have a horrific story relevant to alcohol and Effexor. I am scared to put my email in this reply?

I don't think there's ever been an actual lawsuit (???). Someone was HOPING to get a Class Action lawsuit going, hence this thread on this forum (or whatever it is)..... Unfortunately, leaving email addresses is against the terms of this website, so it would eventually get censored at some point.
