Hello! I am 29, male, well built and healthy ( so far ). Two days ago I had a blood test and it turned out I have elevated white blood count. What could this mean? What can go wrong?

White blood cells play an important role in the immune system of an individual. An unusually high white blood cell count can indicate an infection or a blood disorder such as leukemia. White blood cells are part of the body's immune defense system, attacking invaders such as bacteria and viruses. Conditions that increase WBC values include infection, inflammation, damage to body tissues (such as a heart attack), severe physical or emotional stress (such as a fever, injury, or surgery), burns, kidney failure, lupus, tuberculosis (TB), rheumatoid arthritis, malnutrition, leukemia, and diseases such as cancer. The use of corticosteroids, underactive adrenal glands, thyroid gland problems, or removal of the spleen can increase WBC values.

Hey guys. Well, elevated blood cells count is a broad topic and could mean a lot of things. But, long story short, it means that your body, your immune system is trying to fight against a disease, no matter how big deal it is. Now, there are numerous conditions that cause elevation of white blood cells. But, not all of them are very serious. If you are healthy for now, that can mean that your immune system is reacting on an allergic reaction of some sort and that's why you should know if you are allergic to anything. Also, it could be an infection.
