enlarged circumvallate papillae

definitely FSC causing tonsilitis. After over 1 year and many doctors I know its the FSC smokes. tonsils filter poisons and ethyl vinyl acetate is a poison used as carpet glue among othe things...MSDS says it all. Look it up. Its says when exposed to heat source it produces toxic fumes. From my reading it produces another chemical which is found in mothballs. Why our government decided this was a good thing is easy to figure out. As with everything someone is getting paid!!! Greed is always behind it, Politics ... what a joke..follow the trail and it always leads to someone makin a buck at the expense of anyone..it doesnt matter as long as they get paid... Go America!!!!

Oh my gosh I am so relieved to know that so many people have the same thing as me. I started crying as soon as I saw the bumps and freaked out, mostly because there was white and black stuff around it like yeast or something and so I quickly brushed my teeth and made sure to include my tongue. The white and black went away so I hope that helps you guys a little. I am very scared because I am only 13. Could it be cancer? Will it go away? What causes it? Help! Thank you!

Last night I felt something in my throat like there was food stuck on the back of my tongue. I was alarmed when I looked in the mirror and saw that V-shape row of huge bumps. A few hours earlier I had made a taco meat mix. ...My husband said the temperature burned his mouth. It kind of felt hot to me, but more spicy hot than temperature hot. I think maybe the seasoning packet that I used had something that I must have an allergen to, or it could be the temperature I suppose.
My go-to remedy for anything oral related is oil of oregano. Since last night I've gargled with it twice and swallowed a tiny bit to make sure it smoothed over any bumps deeper in the back of my mouth. Let's see if it works...

My circumvallate Papillae always tend to enlarge when my body is fighting off a virus. I was born with HPV and HSV I, and it seems everytime I have a HPV flare up those are the first things to enlarge (as well as an overproduction of yeast on my tongue). I would check for HPV or HSV, as over 90% of the population carry these viruses, even if they do not show the signs, as they can lay dormant with people who have a stronger base constitution with their immune system. However, you can still spread the disease if you do have it.

It could very well be an allergic reaction to certain mouthwashes, foods, overly-acidic drinks (soda, coffee, etc.), but still get checked out as you would want to know for any family/partners you have. Plus, peace of mind is always the best.

I too have a new sensitivity to spicy and salty foods, although that is my favorite! I switched to a sensitive toothpaste which helps a little, no longer chew mint gum (that hurt too), and reduce the amount I have tequila with my spicy & salty foods because for some reason it got REALLY bad with that combination. I'm not healed, but I'm hoping my upcoming dentist visit can shine a light on the situation. My mom had some salivary gland issues and I'm wondering if it's genetic.

Hello i have in WAYY back of tongue on both sides What looks like White  Painless Bumps  anyone else have that?

I have had the same feeling for at least 3 months. I am a dental hygienist and I am sure the feeling is coming from enlarged circumvallte pappillae. I saw an ENT and he did a scope and found nothing. I feel like I have a tumor in the back of my throat and am freaking out!

simply take with my advice, chew gum and suck candy like strepsils more often, that will encourage the tasting buds to work and to realease the saliva which will take the tasting buds into thier normal condition.

Hello, I am a 29 yr. old female.  For the last 3 months I have had the feeling of hair in the back of my throat.  I did have a cat and thought I had allergies. So I gave her away.  I still have the feeling of hair in my throat.   I too have enlarged bumps in the back of my throat.  I started using a new toothpaste with peroxide and baking soda and equate brand mouthwash.  I smoke about a pack a day, but the only thing different in my lifestyle is the toothpaste and mouthwash.   My symptoms seem to go away during the day but in the morning and at night they r horrible!  I too use a probiotic for intestinal issues.  The probiotic is helping that but not my cirmcumvallate papillae.  It's so annoying, they don't hurt though, and I found if I only clean my tongue from mid to front the swelling goes down.  I know it's NOT and STD, because I had a yrly pap with testing done just a couple months ago and had a clean bill of health.  It could b due to intestinal issues and the use of my choice in dental care and smoking.  I am so glad I found this site because I too was concerned it was oral cancer!  Thank u to all who have posted on this!

so glad I found this site i hope... and i was wondering if anyones had a similar experience to this....

I had the feeling that something was stuck down my throat for the last 3 months or so, finally about a month ago i noticed a lump on the back of my tongue right at the back on the left. initially i was soooo worried! then later about 3 weeks ago i had a similar feeling on the other side of my throat and hey presto i had lumps at the back of my tongue on the right :(:( at first i was so so worried but ive found this website and listening to all you guys i think this must be what it is. fingers crossed anyway.

ive had a sore throat for the last couple of months as well, still really worried cause its uncomfortable all the timeeee.

i went to the gp and they prescribed me some dakatarin (anti fungal i think) hasnt made a huge difference though. ive got an appointment with a ENT person but its not to 30th Nov. 

has anyone experienced the same things????? id appreciate hearing from anyone.

I had these symptoms too. I tried chewing gum and sucking candy like stripsells and it worked like magic thanks God. This action will eatimulate the tasting buds located on the surface of the tongue to produce saliva ..and u will that this annoying feels is gradually going away. Thanks god I am so better now. Thanks God.

I have had the same problem for about a year. I read somewhere that a chewable antacid would help. Well i tried a few and its pretty much gone in one day. I have had them in my cabinet for over a year :( Hope it helps give you some relief as it has for me.
