My sister-in-law suffers from Bi-polar disorder, as well as Fibromyalgia and has been on anti-depressants and strong pain medication for many years. Family members are concerned that her doctors have been irresponsible and guilty of over-medicating her. She worked as a nurse (now on disability) for many years and unfortunately knows how to work the system in order to get more medication. One week ago she was running a low-grade temp and having some nausea, as well as displaying some mental confusion. She just turned 56 years old. The mental confusion continued after the other symptoms abated. She was admitted to the hospital and tests show that she had a very low oxygen level as well as an extremely elevated liver enzyme count. She continues to be extremely disoriented and is now refusing to eat or allow additional testing. She tears off her oxygen & continues to show extreme mental confusion. Her doctors don't seem to have a clue and the family is very concerned. Do you have any idea what her problem might be?
ischemic bowel? some sort of blockage/tumour in gut?
