Hi, I am approx. 5 weeks pregnant confirmed by a home pregnancy test and I am about to visit my doctor for complete confirmation. I would like my current partner to come with me however I had a miscarriage in a previous relationship which has never been discussed with my current partner and i'm worried the doctor may ask me about this kind of history in front of him. I don't want my partner to miss the first visit but I also don't want to go into the details of my previous miscarriage with him. What i'm wondering is will the doctor question me about this history at my first visit? And will this topic be brought up at future scans?

Hi Guest,
Your doctor will be asking about and needs to know your past history. It's important that you be truthful as well. In this case, you might not want your partner present.
Perhaps you can have your partner remain in the waiting room, for "moral support" but not bring him into the exam room immediately. They can always call him in to see the results.
Technicians may/may not know about your history, it depends on the facility. In many cases all they are doing is the tests that are ordered.
Discuss this with the doctor, privately. Then you can decide what to do with your partner.
Congratulations and good luck.
