Would you mind posting pics of the progress? Obviously just a close up of the lips. Hopefully you have a before picture too?

There is no cure. We are just going to have to accept our lives the way they are. Spots on lips and all. People do notice, watch their eyes not look you in your eyes but at your lips. Some just may not say it to your face or ask questions. My sex life is active but no steady boyfriend because no one wants to be openly known as being with the girl with them bumps on her lips. A stigma so to speak. I get lonely and tired not going out in public too often but I would rather stay in than deal with the looks. I have given head to past partners and no it has not transferred to their manhood. When we hook up everything is still smooth down there. Kissing, I don't kiss because my lip makeup is too expensive to smooth off all day. Concealer and lipstick. I'm in close contact with my children, no kissing but we do share eating and drinking utensils and they don't have any bumps. Fordyce spots/ prominence is a beast! I live everyday best I can but if the man upstairs takes me tomorrow I am okay to go. I use to be a chapstick glossy lip fanatic in my day but if I knew my lips would end up like this, I wouldn't have put anything on them ever. I'm still not convinced that fordyce is an actual condition. I read these forums nightly just waiting to see what it's really caused from. Doctors don't know everything. I was wondering if you all would like to start a picture forum so we can see our cases and stages of these fordyce spots. Just a lip facial, one without lip balm or moisturizer and one with. No persons spots are exactly alike but I'm curious about similarities with all of us. A lot of us only have them on top lip...i saw someone started a facebook page too but not many post pictures. If someone has a for sure private way for us yo share pictures and chat openly with one another, your thoughts are welcome...maybe a facebook private group page..anyone wants to start one...if so please leave a response

Fordyce Spots are a condition and were named after the American Dermatologist, John Fordyce, that discovered them. They are in no way related to sexual activity nor are they contagious.
The cause is overactive sebaceous glands similar to acne but since the oil cant escape the lips through pores, it gets "trapped".
I would read back through the posts on this thread there is a lot of good info. If you just want to skim, look for "FRANK" or some of the longer posts that go into detail.
I personally have both deep and surface spots. Youre right, there is no cure and these things suck, but there are a lot of procedures and supplements that help-----
1. Co2 by a professional removes them temporarily, if you have the money, have this done every few months (see above for the GUEST post and a few other previous posts that had it done)
2. Once removed, take a vitamin A and E supplement along with a multivitamin
3. Ask your dermo for a strong retin A cream. This will reduce the production of oil in glands
4. Use a deep lip balm like aquaphor
5. Always use lip sunscreen
6. Drink a ton of water
7. Take fish oil
8. stop smoking
9. stop drinking alcohol
10. BE REALISTIC, these will come back but hopefully not as noticeable each time.
11. BE PATIENT
12. TALK TO SEVERAL dermatologists, get a few opinions
Overall, just be healthy...exercise, run, eat quality whole foods, get plenty of sleep, reduce stress.
Honestly, my spots are still there and I see them everyday but things could be A LOT WORSE health wise. Once your start leading a more healthy life and exercising, you start to become more confident in yourself and your body and you realize no one gives a sh*t about these spots.
Now, if you think you have something that is being transmitted, that is Herpes Simplex and requires a completely different treatment protocol which starts with Valacyclovior prescription. This easily distinguishable from Fordyce Spots with just a few minutes google searching. Trust me, youll know.

Nothing is proven with these damn things but I have noticed smoking makes mine flare. I stopped immediately but can't tell you if they were originally caused by it and made my sebaceous glands turn into overdrive.

Im still checking this thread from time to time. Wow been 8 yrs since I first posted here. So I still have them but I think about them alot less. I have 2 kids now and they take up all my time. My advice is to live your life. Eventually u will find someone that accepts your fordyce

FYI, I have tried all the home remedies and well as tazorac, nothing helped. Seems like chemical or laser/cauterization are the only methods people have had success with permanently removing these, even then they seem to come back for most.
