Hi Lynn. I’ve suffered with Fordyce Spots on my top lip for years this past year they’ve gotten worse and started taking over the top lip, I’d say 60% of my lip was covered, started loosing my lip line. I have a very good skincare routine and my hygiene is high. Tried everything from ACV to Jojoba, over counter creams and serums nothing helped, only made it worse... I stumbled across an article and decided to try my own concoction. Vitamin a palmitate with coconut fractionated oil (mct) I basically do 1 drop of vitamin a palmitate to every 10 drops of oil and mix. I apply this three times a day. After day two my Spots were noticeably less prominent in colour by day 5 they were shrinking. I’ll keep it up and post the results as I go on but so far it’s proving to be very good.

Vitamin A palmitate, also called retinyl palmitate or retinol palmitate is proven retinoid to help skin cell turnover. You can get it over the counter at any vitamin store.

Because any strong retinol will have a drying and tightening effect, the spots will have a reduced appearance.

As I mentioned in my previous posts, Tazorac 0.1% in the strongest retinoid available in the US and is the best source for direct Vitamin A absorbtion through the skin. The cream is only available with a prescription. I strongly recommend it as I have tried many retinol and vitamin A creams.

In my case the, the spots we greatly reduced in appearance. I tried all sorts of creams and retinoids but nothing worked.

Tazorac .1% helped me a ton to the point where Im worrying about them less and less. I had the erbium done (explained a few posts back) and havent set another appointment because the Tazorac has helped so much.

Available in prescription only but easy to get with a quick appointment to any Dermatologist in US. Isotrenix is the same concept but available outside the US.

Also, depending on the potency of the Vit A Palimiete, you have to ingest a lot or rub a lot on. Be careful of Vitamin A poisoning signs. I have read one 20mg pill of Accutane is equivalent to 250,000 IUs of Vitamin A and there are some bad side effects to Accutane to a small population that take it.

One the bright side, it's good to see someone trying something and getting results.

I was swallowing (not creating a cream with the fractionated coconut oil) roughly 50,000 IUs per day and say no improvement, then I moved to the tazorac cream.

Thank you for replying still. I really need to get to a derm.. Like I said, I'm just waiting for the courage to tell my SO about the spots on my penis too. Sounds stupid, but its just too embarrassing. These things suck.

Just do it, I was so happy I finally did and wish I would've done it sooner. I'm sure your SO will not even know what you are talking about. Those of us that have them tend to blow it way out of proportion...but it's hard not to!

Yeah, I'm trying. Just seems like I never find the right time to do it and then I just chicken out and don't do it when I say I will. Idk. I already suffer from anxiety and depression before all this so it just makes it so much worse. Its like a black cloud following me around

DM Byers - Thank you very much for continuing to follow up on this post. I'd just like to reach out to you to say that you have a real audience here (whether they post or not), and to please keep it up. It is great to see some encouraging signs for FS. Please keep us updated and thanks again! I will be trying out both the vitamin A palmitate, as well as the Tazorac. Cheers!

I've got a question for everyone on here. How long has it been since you noticed your FS? Also, have they changed any since you've noticed them?

Okay yall, I finally scheduled a consultation with a dermatologist next week on Tuesday. She said she wants to diagnose it first before recommending any sort of laser treatment. Apparently there's more than one thing that "white spots" on your lip could be. I promise ill keep y'all updated with that they say and recommend.

And I'm finally gonna have to man up and tell my SO about the spots on my lip and penis. I'm nervous and anxious about it. I really hope the derm can get rid of these things on my lip.

No problem. I try to check ever so often, I I do appreciate the people that are actually trying to find a cure and not just waiting for someone else to do it. TO sum up, here is a quick guide of what has worked for me.

1. Change your diet and sun exposure, keep a journal figure out what your body likes and doesnt like, record what days your spots are bad and what days they are good. Figure out which balms or oils make them more pronounced and which ones help.
2. Consult a Dermatologist!!!!! and do your research prior, know what people try, what lasers, etc
3. Try Tazorac .1% and a face cleanse on your lips. I also scrub when they start to peel from the Tazorac
4. Try a laser spot (erbium by Sciton worked for me)
5. Get a 24 hour matte liquid lipstick to take the edge off on paranoid days
6. Patience
7. for those wondering, I keep my lips on the drier side which hides them a little better.
8. and this a recent once for me, TCA acid 50%

TCA 50% Acid - I have tried this in the past and they usually came back in a month or so but that was with 25%. I have been experimenting with 50% in one spot so I'll update with that progress. Same concept as a deep laser though, destroy the gland and skin. Basically I dab it on the spot, and leave it alone. It will turn white immediately, then read the next day, then peel the next. It will be a little red for a few more days but nothing terrible Then your spot is gone for at least a month (for me). Im trying to see what different applications will make it go deeper to actually destroy the gland or to the very least, create thick layers of new new on the top that will block the oil from coming to the surface layer.

AND Lastly, I know they suck but try not to mess with them too much. Going to the mirror, popping them, rubbing a different balm on them every 30 seconds, stretching them and just overall stressing about them doesn't help at all. Dont pop with your finger nails, or stick a hot needle down there, this WILL cause scarring and they come right back.

I've had these 7 years, and only recently over the last 9 months have I started to say F* it and spend money to consult dermatologists, spend money on lasers and most of all spend money on Tazorac. ITS ALL WORTH IT! talking to a good Doctor that is willing to try stuff out and work with you is the greatest feeling in the world.

Knowing that you will finally be able to control these spots and not have them control you is worth every penny!!!
