I have been on opiate pain medication for 11 years for severe chronic spinal problems. Started with the Duragesic patch,100 mcg for 6 years and had to switch to Avinza 90mg, due to problems with skin reaction. Last year, a forced insurance change took away the Avinza and I was put on MSContin ER (generic) 60 mg 3 times a day. Because my colon is suffering from diverticulitis and chronic hard stools( yes, I've tried all the natural and OTC remedies), I had enough and over a few months was able to reduce the MSContin (generic) down to 15 mg per day(lowest my insurance paid for). I am now on DAY 19 of withdrawals and am still having problems. Aside from the horrendous back pain, I am still dealing with the sneezing and strange congestion in my nose, which I can tolerate. It's the FREEZING COLD AND SWEATS that will not let up. My arms and lower legs and feet get SO COLD, IT BURNS!vI'm not asking for a remedy as I have tried everything from exercising to heating pads and then I start to SWEAT PROFUSELY WHILE MY LIMBS ARE FREEZING! I have talked to my doctor and cannot get a straight answer. I need help from those who have similar experiences. Since I was on pain medication for so long, I fear that my body is screaming for me to go back on and I am wondering is this going to continue? If so for approximately how long?
I stopped taking Tramadol almost 3 months ago and I am still having the sweating & freezing at the same time. I have also had the worst anxiety ever. I never had panic attacks or anxiety, until I stopped taking the Tramadol. So its obviously a side effect. I was on it for approx 7 years because my doctor said it was safe and non addictive. So glad I stopped taking it. They say 30 days and its out of your system but some are back to normal faster or slower than others.
I see your post is from last year and am so hoping you can help. I am going through the freezing sweats and also do not feel like I can sit still. How long does this last? What can I do for this?
