I'm 20 and I've scheduled an appointment with the doctors first, unfortunately, the appointment has been canceled twice already due to snow conditions.
My question is, can I go into the operation alone without telling anybody and come back home myself?

I live in the UK and had mine yesterday on the NHS. This involved a general anesthetic so i was knocked out for about an hour and felt nothing. 24 hours later and there is really no pain at all, just more of an awkwardness but i think that is more psychological than anything. I didn't want anyone to know either but at the hospital they said i would only be discharged if somebody collected me due to the anesthetic so its best telling someone. Parents are actually very understanding!
Im 24 and now in a relationship. I have never been able to fully retract my foreskin when erect, unless i force it which causes me to lose my erection. This has resulted in years of awkward sex! Fortunately my girlfriend is very understanding! I should have sorted this years ago but kept putting it off. Hopefully this op will put an end to this and i can have a normal healthy sex life with the missus. After the op there was no gauze or bandages down there and everything looks like it did before. I havent pulled back the foreskin yet to take a look and obviously avoided erections, but fingers crossed the extra give in my frenulum will have fixed all this. I'll try and update in about 6 weeks time....
I had this procedure carried out because i am now 24 and in a relationship. My foreskin could never retract fully when erect by itself and if i pulled it back forcefully i would lose my erection. So I spent a few years having awkward uncomfortable sex! Fortunately my girlfriend is very understanding!

Hey guys,
Im 20 and had the procedure done 4 days ago. I had it under local anesthetic which meant it was very uncomfortable as they were numbing the area, but after that couldn't feel a thing!
My initial swelling went down after 2 days, but there is a section of my foreskin which is still swollen, and as it rubs against things it's quite painful. Has anybody else had experience of swelling after 4 days?
Also, when looking at pictures of the procedures I see that most people have a few stitches on the frenulum, but when I roll back what I can of my foreskin I see a huge thick roll of yarn around my glans?! As it hurts to roll back im finding cleaning a little difficult too. Eeeek.
Might pop back to the doctors this week.

Sounds similar to me. I described my op in the post above yours. Mine has been a week now, its not particularly painful at all im back playing football etc. It hasnt healed completely though so cleaning is still a bit difficult. I'd recommend not to keep pulling it back as this prob just keeps stretching the skin where it is trying to heal. Ive prob made that mistake, its just tempting to check the progress! If your still worried then go back to the docs. 8 days without any action now, i need to heal!!

Im 16, and after about 6 months ago, after going on thousands of websites like these i finally plucked the courage to go tell my mum i needed to see a doctor to get this sorted. I figured i had frenulum breve, real tight string..was so afraid of sex because of it. Anywho, so went to the doctors, he referred me to a Urologist and a week and 5 days ago i had my op. General Anesthetic, (Was awesome, love that feeling of falling asleep..anyway..) strolled out of the hospital happy as hell, no pain no stress, no trouble at all. i had no pain what so ever, unless ofcourse i played around shortly after the op, thats never smart. I had a string of yellowy stuff hanging around for the first few days, but now thats all gone, and im nearly completely pain free when i fully retract.
I should be fine in couple more days, can't wait to get back in the game...hah

I'm 23 years old and I just had this frenuloplasty procedure done earlier today.
As most other people have testified, it definitely was not as bad as I expected. The only really painfully part was the needle. Everything else was just the imagery. The application of needles, scalpels and other sharp objects to your penis is not a comforting sight. Aside from all that, I was completely numb from the local anesthetic. The procedure was quick and seemed routine, the doctor was chit-chating most of the time, mostly about the unfortunate news of Michael Jacksons passing.
I was only aware that I had frenulem breve for the last year, after I started pulling back my foreskin (didn't find out about that till I was 22) All of my sexual experiences have been awkward because of this. I've only successfully had sex once (only because she was super wet) and how shall I put this, I never got to finish.
I'm really happy this is finally done because now I can begin a new chapter in my life. One hopefully without the awkward sexual experiences of the past. If you're younger and especially if your in h.s or college, and are thinking about this procedure, I would go ahead and cross that bridge. I missed so many opportunities to have sex, (at least 15+, seriously) but couldn't because it was psychically painful do it. My penis had this self-applied safegaurd, it wouldn't stay erect if it started to be painful. Later on, after the exposure of the glans, the foreskin would get roll up on itself and it would hurt like hell.
Now I'm in the post-op healing stage. It's day 1 and not really painful at all. Some minor spot bleeding from the stitches, but no worse than nicking yourself from shaving. I will keep you posted as things heal up. When everything is in working order, I'll be on a mission to reclaim the 15+ that I missed out on when I was younger.
P.S. I would love to hear from more people about their post-op situation, in different stages as well. 6 months post-op, 1 year, 2 years, etc...

Hi guys!!
I had my done about a week ago. I was under general anesthetics and didn't remember much from my stay at hospital. Afterwards I did not feel much pain and only noticed few spots of blood which probably came from the stiches. 7 days after the op and I still got my stiches on (hopefully they will be gone soon) and not sure how long will the wound heal because I'm eager to test whether this op has actually helped me as the doctor said that in 70% of cases it does help but in 30% there is a need for a circumcision which I'd like to avoid!
I'd love to hear some more comments from those of you who had it done month or two ago.

Hmm well I had this done several years ago (i was 19 or 20 I think). I didn't choose to have it done, rather I had painful erections and the urologists thought it might help (it didn't)
So anyway I definately have visible scars, maybe it was just a bad job on their part. It was tight but I'm not sure it was so tight that it needed a frenuloplasty. I kind of wish it hadn't been done without trying stretching techniques or something first at least but there's not much I can do about it now!
Surgery and so on pretty much how people have explained it - nothing too stressful, over quickly, slightly unpleasant for a couple of days and takes a few weeks to heal up fully
Maybe I'm just unlucky with the scarring.. but for anyone out there thinking about it I wouldn't rush into having it done unless you are sure you really need it. I'm not saying don't do it or that I didn't need it, just look into your options first. Back when I had it done it wasn't so easy to find information on these things!

Having mine done later this month, case of having to really, making love is impossible, last time i tried, it bled for at least 30 minutes and sheets were covered in blood, looked like there had been a murder, not nervous about it, waiting is the worst part, then hopefully within 6 - 8 weeks, will be able to make love again.

Well its been 10 months since i had mine now. I described my process in an earlier post (Posted: 01/13/09 - 09:47). Have been having sex with my partner since April now and its great! It took probably 3 months from the op before i could have penetrative sex largely because i had to do stretching exercises to help loosen up the foreskin but the actual frenulum was fine. Very minimal scarring, i dont think anyone would even notice if they didnt know it had been done. This op has given me new confidence and has improved my relationship ten fold i would recommend it to anyone who suffers from a tight foreskin or frenulum. Dont suffer in silence, get it sorted!!

I posted on 10/17, had the operation on 10/29, no nerves at all, consultant said it went very well and should be no scarring, am in no pain whatsoever, not even given anything to rub onto the operated area, had a quick look yesterday, saw a stitch and decided not to chance pulling anything, but so far, all is great.

Ok like a lot of you im looking for answers. Ok so first off my penis curves downward. When erect i can roll down my foreskin so that my whole head is exposed, however if i were to go roll down a little further the frenulum starts to hurt. I haven't had sex and plan to save my virginity until im married. However, I dont want to wait to have surgery, if i need it, when im on my honeymoon and having sex hurts. I can also masturbate without any pains, but when i do masturbate i don't roll my foreskin down all the way. My question is when I have sex and I insert my penis into the vagina, does the foreskin roll back all the way? My concern is because my penis curves slightly downward that there will be more friction against my penis and will cause the foreskin to roll back more causing pain.
Thanks

Doe anybody know of a doctor in the Los Angeles area that performs frenuloplasties? It seems every urologist I've spoken to about my frenulum breve just wants to circumcize. Any referral would be appreciated.

If a frenuloplasty is not successful half the time I wonder if it's worth it. I also can't understand the doctor recommending a circumcision to cure a short frenulum. If they can cut the frenulum during a circumcision to get it out of the way, why can't they cut it without removing the foreskin? I think they just want to sell circumcisions or they are sadists who want to make you live with a bare head.
I didn't go to a doctor to fix my frenulum.
Some say they have stretched theirs but I didn't have any luck stretching my frenulum. Mine just tore when I had sex. I think it must be what we get instead of a hymen so some of us can experience blood and pain too, just like some of the girls.
The first time mine tore I let it heal by itself. Then I discovered the ends healed right back together so it was still too short. The next time it tore, I wrapped it with something so the ends didn't go back together and it was longer after it healed. I had to do that a few times before it stopped tearing, but it wasn't that bad. It sounds a lot worse than it is.
After it stopped tearing during sex I worked on stretching it by pulling my foreskin back real tight and holding it there for several minutes each time. When you're young, pulling back hard on it just makes the erection stronger due to stretching the inner foreskin, so there was no problem keeping an erection while holding it back there for ten minutes or so. Actually, I began dry masturbating at this time so that gave me something fun to do while I was holding it back tight. Within a year I got it so I could pull it all the way back so the tip of my foreskin is next to my abdomen and it rolls all the way back there comfortably.
Hearing about so called doctors who can't cut the frenulum to relieve it, makes me think I was better off doing it myself. o.O

To the person with the question - Will the frenulum be sore and does the skin retract during Intercourse.
Yes the skin will probably retract and yes if your frenulum is sore when you stretch it then it will be sore after or during intercourse.
Get the op done now - its better not to wait like i did.
I got mine done this morning - it really isnt that bad.
No worse than going to the dentist!!!!!
