This is how I gained the weight.
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy at age 37. I was having headaches after the pregnancy and just not feeling well, I thought it was from having a sick newborn. Finally, at about 8 months, I went to see the doctor to be checked for the headaches, and I found out I had put on 15 extra pounds. It was so depressing. I also found out I have Type 2 diabetes that was even more depressing. I was determined right then that I was going to get the weight off, and I did! My husband and kids mean the world to me. Being able to live a long life was an important factor and motivation to lose the weight.
How I did it:
I did a ton of research I logged my food, ate six small meals a day and had no refined sugar. Finding out I had Type 2 diabetes helped me have a paradigm shift in the way I think, and I did a lifestyle change versus a diet. I worked out hard Four days a week, cardio mixed with weight training was my exercise routine. A little over 1/2 way through my journey I broke my ankle after slipping on black ice. I thought "How will I ever get the rest of the weight off now?" I was so determined that I indeed got it off. No, I could not exercise, but I kept eating 6 small meals a day and reached my goal. My diabetes is now under control through diet and exercise no medication. That I am the most happy about! :-)
After losing the 100 pounds I did something I never thought I would. A beauty pageant. I did the Mrs. Idaho pageant and placed 2nd runner up and won best interview. I could not believe I was even capable to ever having my life back and living life again. It's not about what changed on the outside that is all nice but it's really about what changed on the inside for me.
Since losing the 100 pounds I have been paying forward what I have learned and have become a diabetes advocate and a motivational speaker sharing my story at schools, youth groups, woman groups and many other places. It's been a blessing a true blessing.
