I had my gallbladder removed 3 months after I had my son by c-section. It was 1 month after I had turned 20 years old. Its been 2 years and I have had NON-STOP issues with my entire body ever scince. Exactly 1 months after surgery It  felt like I was having yet another attack of my gallbladder, I new it was impossible but it felt the exact same as the pain I had felt when I had my stones. Im 22 now, can't drink liqour cant drink grapefruit juice, cant drink anything with sugar, among other things. So far I have been disgnosed with a gastric ulcer due to the amount of bile being secreted into my stomach, my liver is enlarged, i have chronic diarrhea ( i know this may sound vulgar but it gets so bad that my bum bleeds ) sometimes i have a bowel movement more then 20 times a day with only eating once, evening drinking water causes me to have diarrhea... My kidneys are constantly on fire, I have no energy, i HATE eating because i know ill be in the bathroom immediatly so while i go to school ( college ) for 6 hours i cant even have lunch or i will not be able to return to my studies i take anti diarrheals but when i take them my kidneys and liver feel like there on fire, worst pain ever! Among other things i also have a vitiman D deficency i take 50,000 units of vitamin D once a week and i feel no better regardless...

While reading all of these posts it makes me not feel so alone. Ive been so depressed latley i feel like there nothing the doctor can do to fix me and feeling as sick as i do every single day make me very unhappy .... im on anti depressants now and i feel like one giant ball of c**p. Im 22 and i feel like im a decaying 89 year old women. If anyone can help please please! repy to this post... i just wish a doctor could help me and get my body on the right track again...

Well I'm am 20 had my gallbladder taken out when I was 19 they done like 10 ultra sounds on my gallbladder n found nothing but with me still having the attacks they did some kind of scan on it I had to lay on a bed for a hour and half while this mechine W's over me just watching my gallbladder finally they told me my gallbladder was only working 16 percent so a couple months later. I had. The surgery during the surgery they also found out that my appendix was inflamed and my small bowel was wraped around my appendix and attached to and abominable wall on the right side but sine the surgery I've been completely normal I am now 25 weeks pregnant with my first child I do have problems using the bathroom sometimes but that could just b a pregnancy thing I wonder why you and all these other people are having these problems and I am not but I recently found out that my gallbladder turned out to b fine and I had it taken out for no reason it was just my appendix n small bowel the whole time which actually pissed me off lol

i had my gall bladder removed about 3 years ago and i have experienced severe weight gain and my fitness level has been on the decline since then. i spoke to my GP about the situation and he seemed really enthusiastic about helping me solve this issue up until i told him how my gall bladder was damaged (stabbing). he then made the assumption that i was some sort of criminal and all of a sudden his attitude changed. Is there anyone with a similar issue or is this just a one off case?

I had my galbladder removed when I was 27, 30 years ago.  I have had issues over the years with some weight gain, under control now, and digestive problems.  My galbladder was removed because it was enlarged and full of those cinder stones that never show up in an x-ray.  I was full of infection and stayed in the hospital for 9 days on IV's and a drainage tube, antibiotics.  I still need to watch out for fatty foods causing severe problems with my bowels and it seems fresh fruits and vegetable skins are impossible to digest and cause constipation every time I eat them.  Peanut butter is horrible on my system!  I usually cook everything I eat and sometimes wonder if I am getting the right amount of nutrition because I can't eat fresh foods enough.  I take a small amount of supplements and hope I will keep my health as I am aging.  I also wonder how this could effect my liver and other organs.  I've just started a wonderful relationship with a fantastic man, I am a widow, and want to be with him as long as I can, and healthy!

I am so glad I found this forum today. It can be very scarey being alone with the smptoms that come with having the gallbladder removed. I have all of the problems previously described by other members here. Sorry so many others are miserable but feels better to know I have company. I had emergency gallbladder removal 37 years ago and have lived with the pain and diarrhea since I came home from the hospital. Some times things settle down but lately I have been in a flare and should own stock in the company that makes Imodium. I have used Questran in the past and need to get a new prescription. I am hoping that will get things under control again. Due for colonoscopy next month.

I also had low Vit D but taking 1,000mg/day has brought that to normal. I have the belly fat, joint aches/pains, etc. So glad to find you but just hope someone out there still keeps track of this forum and will write back.

See a naturopath (a good one). Take bile acids and digestive enzymes; stay away from a lot of red meat and hifg fat foods;eat high proteins - a protein drink and green drink. Get lots of exercise; reduce stress by meditation; stay away from a lot of carbohydrates; eat fruits and vegetables - a salad every day. Mine has been out for 40 years and I have managed it by much reading and work with a naturopath. No MD has given me good advice.

I love the way you describe running to the potty and waiting for others to leave the bathroom because I feel the exact same way. Its gotten to the point where I dont even like going to the bathroom in public, including at work. My worst symptom has been the chronic diarrhea. I've tried to explain the "yellow liquid death" to people (close friends/family) but they dont get it. They are like "Oh, you mean like when youm have the stomach flu?" I dont know, because I've never had the stromach flu, thank God! But I imagine it may be something like that. I am on the prowl to try and find a diet or something that will ease the horriblw diarrhea. Any help is welcome!

I have been all over the internet reading about gall bladders. You would think I would have something better to do. I had my gall bladder removed when I was 18 years old 38 years ago. I also had the knife as the removal tool. I had no idea what a gall bladder was let alone know what the surgery entailed, however, I would have died if the thing wasn't removed as I had large gall stones the size of Cocoa Puffs as my grandmother put it; and infection. I had run to the hospital at least once every two weeks for nearly two years and they would shoot me with morphine that didn't help one bit, the pain was still there but I was too doped up to complain about it. So really had gall stones when I was 15 or 16. At the time my doctor told me I was the youngest person he had ever diagnosed with this. I see many posts now that are from very young people and in fact my own son at the age of 23 had to have his removed. I am sure that it has to do with the diet we are now subjecting our stomachs too. For all of you who have just had surgery it does not get better, and I hope that someone finds something to make it better. I don't care what anyone tells you...if you take a part out of your body something is going to suffer. Remember when tonsils and adenoids where removed with no thought at all? Well they say the tonsils and adenoids are not needed ... false, now they won't take either out unless you have a long history of problems. I just look at it like this, everything in my body must have a reason to be there cause I don't think we have spare parts. I take my car to get it fixed and when they fix it something else breaks so is this not what happens to our body as well? I have had all kinds of symptoms after the surgery. One that is most prevalent is the eating and running to the bathroom. Now you would think if you eat and then do a 2 minute jog to the potty you would not be gaining weight ... which leads me to symptom 2 ... weight gain and not only that; it's weight that seems to be centered over the spot where the freaking gall bladder was removed. Mid-stomach area. It is uncomfortable when you sit, lay down and it feels just like someone stuck a bunch of wood under your ribs. I haven't felt this way since I had kids and I know all you woman know what it feels like to have a kids foot under your rib cage! This is the same feeling only worse. Symptom 3 and this one is the strangest of all ... sometimes when I grab for something and use my stomach muscles I feel like someone took a pair of pliers and pulled my guts out, it's like something dropping from my ribs to my lower stomach and the pain is horrible. I was told this is a muscle spasm around the surgery ... WHAT is that about? Symptom 4 at times I feel like I can't get up, I get depressed and tired to the bone, so tired it hurts if that is possible and I believe it has to do with my liver after having a few blood tests reveal that it is not working well, I don't drink much so I haven't fried my liver. I have a lot of muscle and joint pains that keep me from doing certain types of workouts. My vitamin D is almost non existent again this may cause the tired feelings too. Year after year I keep thinking it's going to get better but year after year it gets worse and worse. If I keep going I will be a puddle of doo doo in another few years. Doctors will not or cannot give me help so I really don't understand why they would take something out unless they knew how to give a person some kind of quality of life. Yes the pain was bad when I had the attacks but at least the in between times I was normal. Anyone who says that your life does not change after this surgery is a nut case ... just imagine only having one of these symptoms, the most common, stomach dropping ... I have totally stopped going out to eat because of the embarrassment of running to the bathroom and waiting until everyone leaves in order not to scare them all away with the explosion and waiting makes your eyes pop out and the pain is excruciating to say the least. Just imagine you can never go anywhere and eat without this happening. It's not always just food that does it either like when I first had the surgery, now it could happen if a drink a glass of juice or even water so it has gotten worse. If I knew then what I know now I think I would rather have been put out of my misery.

If you haven't tried these, try a low fat, high protein diet with lots of fruits and vegetables plus digestive enzymes and lots of water. Also, bile salts and betaine hydrochloride with meals. Exercise is good and probiotic supplements help balance the becteria in the intestines. I have been without my gall bladder for 40 years and it does get better. See a good naturopathic doctor. Read up on various enzyme and proteolytic enzyme treatments. And, stay away from gluten and sugar. Use stevia as a sweetener.

I would ask the doctor to get you a nutritionist. Someone to help you with the foods you eat. Like they do with heart or diabetes patients. They do help! God Bless

My daughter of 14 was throwing up at night and having constant headaches. She cut gluten out of her diet and within days was better. Sometimes people are sensitive to gluten even though they don't test positive for celiac disease.
