i drink hot peppermint tea with honey to prevent attacks. I now have attacks rarely but when I do get one it usually always coincides with my menstrual period. I also drink the tea during attack but it's not as successful as drinking it on preventative basis.

I had many of the same symptoms. Oh it would throb, and I tried everything including laying in the fetal position, heating pad, and even wondered if I was having a heart attack. A neighbor suggested GAS-X gels, and they were helpful. I noticed a link between dairy and this pain, as well as beef & greasy food. Finally I talked to my doctor and he put me on Dexilant 60 mg capsule daily. I don't know the cause, but this is some potent medication as it stopped all attacks. If I miss 2-3 days, I am in severe pain again. It is quite expensive without insurance but it took care of my pain.

This sounds exactly like me can never find anything but I'm in misery. I'm going to continue advocating for myself because it is not a pleasant experience at all. I've been doing this for 12 years

I have found drinking a full cup (that comes with it) of Milk of Magnesia pushes the gas down, almost immediately. It will stop an attack too. Then it basically Liquifies everything, eliminating alot of the gall bladders work. You feel better. Drink lots of water and avoid high fatty & heavy cholesterol & dairy.

Well don't feel alone or let your doc or anyone else call you crazy. Until I was almost 18 I got a gallbladder attack the first day of my period every single month. Usually awakened about 4am with excruciating pain followed by a four to six hour bout of vomiting and diarrhea with continuing excruciating pain, also accompanied by menstrual cramping, made it impossible to go to school that first day every month. And I liked school. They stopped after I got pregnant. Now, at age 65, I think my gallbladder has issues, yet undiagnosed, which cause on and off nausea which leads to eating less, weight loss and now abdominal pain, constipation and diarrhea. Symptoms are now more "on" than off. And I'm getting tired of carrying around a heating pad all day and night.

I am experiencing pain only during my period. The pain lasts for 3 days. After my period, I am back to normal. During the pain, my entire stomach is tender and it is difficult to move. I has my xrays and lab tests. Xray shows stone in my gall bladder. The dr explained that during my period, when there is contraction happening it makes my gall bladder stone touch the linings that causes pain to my entire stomach. I have been recommended to have it removed. My question is if it is not removed and it only causes pain during period, is it alright not to have any operation? Pain is bearable and once my period stops I feel normal.

I suffered pain for about six months in my upper right abdomen during my period. Like some of your posts say it was debilitating, leaving me pretty inactive for a few days each month. After two ultrasounds, scans, a visit to the gynecologist, scouring the internet, and eliminating gluten I was left with no answers and the fear of this pain coming back every month. I finally met with a GI who suggested one longshot that I give up dairy. Well I was ready to try anything so I gave up all dairy. I'm thrilled to report that it worked!!!!!!! No more pain during my period. I never had a problem with dairy prior to this but going dairy free worked for me. My doctor said you can develop an intolerance to dairy as you age and it can present in different ways. I hope this can help someone who suffers from this bizarre pain!

Me too suffer from this pain. But for me it comes about 7-10 days prior to period and normally during that time is triggered by junk or greasy food or sometimes very spicy food which i love. I have been scaned a few times but no stones or gallbladder issies were observed. I was diagnosed with CFS and FM 3 years ago and these are such nasty conditions. It seems that every year I tick yet another horrrible symptom like this one started year ago. I know if i keep the diet right (all the time) no alcohol, no nasty food, and stikc to my vegan diet I mange it all well buy I am only 30yo and sometimes you forget your every step is closely monitored and you can be punished at any time:/ i know that hot baths or hot compress helps also nurofen eases pain a bit and stravation too seems to be good at times but ironically when between this pain attack I seem to be hungry like never.

I am new on here! Not sure if anyone will see my post since these posts are over a year old but I too have severe upper abdominal spasms going on right before my period! This has been going on now for 5 years and have had every test I could think of and nothing abnormal! My spasms always start around 1am in the morning and the pain is so severe I can't talk or move! I will lay there in tears then I will vomit and or both vomit and diaherra! I sometimes can stop an attack if I can catch it in time by taking a Ibropofhen 800! Has any one found any luck as to what this could be??
