Hi there!
My husband was also diagnosed with hiatal hernia and mucosal abnormality.
I was told that there is a way to put a stomach back in a normal position, through a massage. I personally know a lot of people who used to have the same problems, you have mentioned. Since the posts about it are not in english, I just wanted to let you know. Hope it gonna work for my husband and for you as well.

I had breast cancer, and last year was diagnosed with Barrett's Esophogus..now I get to add the Hiatus hernis, Esophageal mucosal changes consistent with short-segment Barrett's esphogus, Gastric mucosal abnormality chararacterized by erythema and I don't understand squat! The doctor took about ten biopsies today when I was awake and felt every rip of tissue. He had two nurses hold me down and just kept telling me not to move. Nothing about meds, nothing about anything. I have no heartburn, I had blood in my stool yesterday morning, and my shoulder pain is killing me. Can anybody explain any of these things to me?
I am a 29 yo female whose stomach issues worsened after I had my first child in October 08. Previously I'd had nausea off and on for the previous 10 years. After the baby and getting over sepsis, the nausea-no vomiting-got much worse. I've been on Pheneergan and now Zofran for the nausea since Spring 2009. Some days I am nausea free & this can last for days or weeks and other times it's bad all day. I had my upper endoscopy Tuesday with diagnosis of hiatal hernia and mucosa abnormality and small erosion's in my stomach which the doc said if were bigger would be considered ulcers. The abnormality was biopsied. I have no pain except for random episodes of diarrhea will simultaneously feeling like I have to vomit, very painful stomach cramps-the kind where it's hard to breathe-, nausea and bloating. It can be months between episodes and they strike without warning and in a few hours are gone. I don't know if in being a woman my hormones play a role but I know for sure the severity and intensity of my symptoms definitely increased post baby. Did the woman who posted have C or V birth? I had a c-section which is how they think I got sepsis. My latest HIDDA scan in May showed an ejection fraction of 20% and the scan reproduced my nausea symptoms. In 2008 within 1 week of my c-section, the fraction was 31%. That was my 1st HIDDA scan because they thought I might have an obstruction so they ran all kinds of tests. I'm scheduled for my surgery consult July 8th. I function overall fairly well with my Zofran & am fortunate to have pain very rarely. Acupuncture....interesting idea. I too am curious about my biopsy results. I also have a maternal aunt who had colon cancer and her son has some kind of growths in hiss stomach and my maternal great grandmother died of stomach cancer. So I don't know if genetics iss playing a role here. Any tips for dealing with occasional episodes of diareah/vomiting/cramps?
I am 18 years old, and for the past month i have had terrible pain on my right side... i was diagnosed with a UTI, which wasn't even there, and had a Endoscopy done today... they did biopsies, which i must wait a week for... im scared because since im young they dont want to give me anything stronger than Tylenol, but i really cant take the pain. I have to take pills every time i go to eat, and i cry because of the pain.. i feel like im going crazy because of it. Does anyone have ideas? any information at all? anything to talk to my doctor about will be very helpful, thank you!
I see a lot of people - like me - with this result post endoscope ... what have been the end diagnoses and outcomes?
to the last person who posted: you should be tested for eosinophilic esophagitis.
I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH GASTRIC MUCOSAL ABNORMALITY CHARACTERIZED BY ERYTHEMA BIOPSIED AND HIATUS HERNIA ON YESTERDAY AFTER A COLONOSCOPY. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE WRITTEN IN WITH THIS BUT CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT WAS THE BIOPSY REPORT WAS AND WHAT WAS THE TREATMENT? i HAVE HAD BACK AND CHEST PAIN WITH TRYING TO SWALLOW SOME FOODS AND HAVE HAD TO REGURGITATE IT BACK UP. i ALSO HAD A LAP BAND BUT HAD TO HAVE IT LOOSENED BECAUSE OF THAT. HELP!! I WANT TO KNOW. MSPDURHAM
I just had the same diagnosis. Also have had colitis for about 9 yrs. I have had strange back pain off and on and never knew what it was caused from. Almost like a stabbing pain when I walk for a long period of time however it comes on quicker. Also sometimes when I cough it feels like something is stuck in my chest. I will be getting results next week as well. It is nice to know that these back pains are related.
Thank you
Thank you
I have the shoulder pain too and don't know if it has anything to do with the Gastric mucosal abnormality characterized by Erythema. But as soon as I know more I will share the info.
Has anyone received an answer to this problem. I too am having the pain in my back and right side. I would really like to know if anyone has overcome this and what was the diagnosis?
After I was diagnosed with gastric mucosal abnormality charactized by erythema and hiatus hernia, I went back to the doctor who told me not to worry about the hernia for many people have hernias and never require surgery. I asked about the gastric mucosal with erytheema and he said it was just acid reflux and he prescribed Protonix and told me to stop taking fish oil and aspirin because that could make my stomach bleed.
I came upon this thread looking for a correlation between gastric erythema & gluten.
I noticed one comment in '09 by one gal who found eating gluten triggered an attack. With Gastric distress, one of the FIRST things to consider is gluten intolerance/celiac disease! Current statistic is 1/133 has Celiac, while 1/3 or 4 are intolerant to gluten! (the protein found in wheat, rye, barley, & cross contaminating oats) Dr Wangen in Seattle (Healthier Without Wheat & other books) has found in working with folks with IBS that virtually all of them do better on a GF diet, & feels that IBS is in reality misdiagnosed Celiac or gluten intolerance!
http://glutenfreern.com/associated-disorders-of-celiac-disease/ is a short list of gluten associated symptoms.
Eating gluten interferes with the body's ability to absorb nutrients, so multiple deficiencies (inc Magnesium & Vitamin D) can follow years of ingesting this common toxin. Many people feel worse the first few weeks after they've gone Gluten Free - hang in there!! A trial of at least two months, supported by digestive enzymes & optimum nutrition will often make a HUGE difference in your life. Should we ALL be gluten free? Many of the folks researching the many ills caused by its consumption would say so!
I've been Gluten free for two years, & while I didn't think I had as many problems as others - I definately feel better & am SO glad I made the switch now!

I woke up on vacation with horrible stomach pains and diarrhea with uncontrollable shakes that sent me to the ER two days in a row. A couple of months later, symptoms never really got better so I got an Upper Endoscopy and Colonoscopy done. They found Gastric mucosal abnormality characterized by erythema. I had that and the doctor saw redness and inflamation in my stomach. Doctor came back with "nonulcer dyspepsia" which is basically what they tell you that you have when they cant find an exact reason. They told me to take Prilosec once a day. It hasn't helped any. That's where my GI doctor left it at. The m***n talked down to me constantly like I was making up my symptoms. I constantly have gas now, burping, acid/burning feeling in stomach, bloating, stomach swelling, pain between shoulder blades, and I really don't know what else to do now. :(
my son has this and other things. some say cvs. (cyclic vomiting syndrome) its horrible.
I too have had an endoscopy with the finding of gastric mucosal abnormality characterized by erythema. I am awaiting results of biopsy. What was the result of other people's biopsies?
