I am a 44 year old female and have had ADHD all my life, I just started the concerta 18 mgs. I am also on desipramine for depression, This medication is a god send for me the only side effect I personally had was a little insomnia but I took a melatonin before bed and that seemed to help, I can't tell you how good it feels to have a clear head and not be all over the place with my thoughts and emotions, before I started the meds my feelings were that I was bipolar because I would literally snap at people , give dirty looks and just get impatient waiting in lines etc,but the doctor ruled that out and has said that my moods were from the ADHD and not bipolar since both tend to mimic one another, now I feel as if I am " normal" again and can be more socially interactive again, just my experience good luck to you. :D

you are actually right. i learned in class that even though it is claimed that generic and brand are the same, they are not. some people don't realize the difference, and usually its not significant but some people are more sensitive.
different companies coat the drug in differnt ways. this effects the rate of breaking down in the stomach, they don't dissociate at the same rate and effect the absorbtion into the blood stream.

whats better adderall or concerta

I know this is late. But if you are out there I understand Exactly how you feel.

1- Make time to exercise. It will help you focus some of that "panic energy" and it also releases endorphins "feel good energy". Yoga has helped me greatly, and I can actually sleep again.

2 - Try drinking sleepytime teas or calming teas during the day. Valerian root should be an ingredient in there. It may have a drowsy effect on some, but if you are on ritalin and have anxiety it will just calm you. Also, stay away from caffiene.

3 - Stress raises cortisol - related to your "adrenaline" hormones. There are a ton of supplements you can try to bring these in line. Personally, I take ginko biloba and vitamin c. They seem to have the least side effects and are easy to find.

* I have experienced everything you described and I think it is the combination of these that help me. Find a regimen that works for you and sick with it. It's worth it, and it gets better. Good Luck :)

And i disagree, generic dont have the same quality. Generic will work, but will be less efficiency than the non-generic.

We have ketpchup, and we have Heinz ketchup. Never forget that ;)

I have taken generic products that made me ill. I don't know where they are made but recently I was prescribed generic Adderall that was like taking nothing. It wore off in 2 hours & I was a total mess! I don't even think it was true Adderall . When I reported it to the FDA they informed me that they had received enough complaints about the exact drug from this company and, that they were investigating it and asked me to file the paperwork for th complaint
.Including company & batch number which I got from the pharmacy.
i have also had bad experiences with certian generic Lymectal.
So , No it isn't garbage. why so defensive? Medications are supposed to have the exact same delivery rate as non generics. There must be constancy.
Sorry, it doesn't jibe with your opinion.

This is not true exactly. For example the patent on Concerta is not on the compound / active substance it is actually on the release mech and because that is the case no other drug works exactly like it. You take Conerta for the release as much as the compound.

The cost of drugs- companies that first develop drugs have to recoup sometimes billions in research and development costs, years of commitment. Less than one in ten of the drugs most of these companies develop will ever make a dime, so the cost of developing the drug is not even simply with in the compound research and development but it is the cost of the company to stay functional. Generic companies make money on years of effort by others. They do not create anything but yet the make millions and billions on other people's hard work.

I agree there must be away obtain the substances and services we need medically at a fair price. But we need to be more aware of what we are actually talking about. If we continue to undercut the large developers and shorten patent life, as well as mandate scientific information sharing, we will create an environment where companies will simply no longer be able to research of develop new molecules. I am sure that many compounds and treatments are scrapped everyday because companies can not break even on the compound no matter how many people need to be treated.

You obviously have no pharmacology knowledge. Do your research. Generics are cheaper for a reason. Good luck.

My son was given Methylphenid as the generic equivalent of Concerta.

Ho dear... Quality is not compromised and should not be a reason for the lowering of prices. By the way, Europeans and the Americans are structurally bigger than a average Indian. You can't give a elephant's dosage of tranquiliser to a cow can you... No doubt the Americans find the Medication from india not strong enough... Because it is not meant for u guys.
