Hi, I am 34 years old and for the first time in my life I have problem with my teeth. I have always been careful about my dental hygiene. But some time ago I have notice that my gum tissue is starting to recede. It is not nice thing to see; also I suppose it is not good for my teeth. My dentist suggests gum grafting. Should I do that?
It is not just esthetical problem. It is much more. When your gum start to recede the bone recession starts too. This is because the bone will not allow to become exposed to the oral cavity. Gum graft helps you to stop bone loss. Sometimes even the roots are exposed and they are in danger. They can decay. So you definitely should do that. It is not painful and helps a lot.
I need to get gum grafting done. I'm scared that stitches will get ruined by my coughing. Am I just being paranoid?
Can you do gum grafting over crowns? If I have crowns in the front teeth and I think the gum line was lifted too much in a previous surgery, can they be lowered over crowns?
