I have had at least 8 steroid shots over the years and never had any problem. Yesterday morning I had a shot in my hip (first time there)
I take a sleeping pill and usually fall asleep when my head hits the pillow. It took over an hour to fall asleep and woke up after only an hour
It is now 3:30 and I can't sleep.Surfing the web for info and found this site. Injection sight never hurt but I am miserable right now.
I have to get up for work in an hour. Have no idea how I will function today. I have had to correct typos all through this comment.
Had a cortisone shot in my knee, had a bad headache, stiff shoulders and did not sleep for 48 hours.
I also am one of those people who is asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. Yesterday, after my first Cortisone shot in my knee I was fatigue, no headache, but was unable to go to sleep for hours. When I finally got to sleep I slept fitfully and not deeply, then was wide awoke at 4 AM. In addition, I had hot flashes all night.
Had a cortisone shot in my hip a week ago. My insomnia has eased but I still am light headed, nauseous, and the headache is still there but blunt. Alot less pain in the hip but I won't be doing any more shots.
I had my first cortisone shot yesterday morning. Had a dull headache so I laid down for a nap from 1 till 2pm. Have not slept since! I put myself to bed at 12:30am and here I am at 7:45am still awake. Thank God I'm off today! With this being said, my knee does feel much better. Guess I will try to go back to bed...
Had two cortisone injections at 9 am. It is now 2:30 am and I am awake but sleepy. If the shot relieves my pain
it will be well worth the loss of sleep.
I had cortisone injection in my knee yesterday, my first. Could not go to sleep last night. Identical to what you experienced......unable to sleep, along with a headache, which I NEVER have! Finally, at 3:00 A.M., I just got up and headed for the kitchen and a pot of coffee. It is now 8:50 A.M., and the headache is still with me. No more shots for me!!!
Had 8 injections yesterday in my lumbar spine and lower back. Was up at 3 playing on my computer and filing papers. Took Ambian and a Muscle Relaxer...was still wide awake. Wonder when I will "crash" after so many injections at one visit...
Add me to the list! I had 8 injections (4 in each foot) one week ago and have not slept naturally since. The physician had prescribed Predisone to give the full impetus possible, but after two days, i thoight maybe...it was them causing me to be wide eyed and bushy tailed at 3am. I have read three books but, I am tired of reading any my eyes feel like sandpaper. I called my doc and No, this should not be happening as a result of the injections, so, i guess I will just wait it out. I will say one thing; my feet feel great!
Had my first cortisone injection in my knee about 1030 this morning. I went to bed at midnight....still awake. I have never heard of this reaction but guess it's common.
I've had 2 injections in my elbow...the first didn't do anything...side effects or help. a month later I did a dose pack...a little insomnia. Yesterday had a second injection...oh lord I was at work till 7 compulsively cleaning up my office, then came home and did the same thing. Wasn't drowsy but went to bed at 11, tried reading..usually one page in I'm zonked. nope. turned on meditation music. finally got to sleep a couple hours then the brain started racing at 4 till the alarm went off at 545. still jacked up. Going to try a really hard workout this afternoon to get the rest of this out of my body.
Had an injection in my hip today. I'm sick and have been up since 5 am and took some Nyquil 3 hours ago. Here I am, bright eyed and bushy tailed! I thought I'd fall asleep about 9pm, but it doesn't look like I'll be sleeping any time soon.
March 15th, '14, 3:54 AM and still wide awake. Had a shot in my right knee this AM, quite painless, no headache. It is my second
shot, had first one 3 years ago. My knee is wearing out, but slowly, which is better than quickly!
