Really feel for you as have had what are thought to be gall bladder attacks from time to time for years but all tests have been negative as no stones found and Hida scan was ejection time was good although test made me feel ill. Because nothing has been found I still have my gallbladder as surgeon said no point in operating but still felt rotten at times. I am 67 years old and migraine headaches have been increasing in frequency and had to fast with every attack which made me wonder if my body just needed to shut down to give my digestion a rest. Finally in desperation I had a blood test done to check for allergies and (after eating them for years) find out I am very allergic to eggs and prawns. No wonder I have felt so awful after eating cakes which I thiught was due to fat content. Therefore I am grateful to still have my gallbladder as that was not the real problem all along but a hidden allergy. At times I have nearly passed out after eating and could never work out what had caused it. I do know prawns make me very nauseous and have also had a bad reaction to Tramadol painkiller. Now I have stopped eating eggs I feel so well and migraines have gone so want to encourage others to get tested.

I had my gallbladder removed 6 years ago, I have become allergic to most fruits, vegetables, wheat, oats, milk, nuts, sunflowers, cereals. Haven’t found any help. I don’t think they care after they get the money for taking your gallbladder out. I felt better with my gallbladder, I wish I’d never had it done. It was removed because I had a polyp.

So glad I found this post. I had my gallbladder out several years back. I immediately developed allergies to just about everything also. I coughed up dangerous mucus that caused serious breathing problems. Dr's tried inhalers which I was also allergic to, and caused the problem to become worse, until all they could do was prescribe prednisone. Which settled things down some. However, now I am completely dependent on prednisone after 12 years after the surgery. Tried to wean down several times but was never successful, always going into the hospital because of allergies returning causing dangerous conditions. Prednisone saved me,but my adrenal glands will never kick in again. Dr's treat me like I am an addict sometimes. Guess they don't understand the adrenal problem. Good luck. Allergist won't help. This problem goes deeper then that. Dr's don't even understand. I just cut out foods I am really sensitive too. Avoid especially preservatives. Eat organic.

No Dr explains why allergies develop after gall bladder is removed. It's natural to be sensitive to high fats, but what's up with all these other allergies that develop.

I have suffered for 18 years post surgery. I still have severe attacks, if I eat the wrong thing. The toughest part about this is I still don't know everything that sets off an attack. My attacks are similar. However, mine also involve fainting. The latest food item that bothers me is carrageenan, a food thickener. It's in coffee creamer. It's also sometimes in almond and oat milk. I avoid it like the plague now.

Alot of the food allergies/ intolerances sound like they could be Histamine intolerance or DAO deficiency. Please talk to your physician about the possibility of being tested for Histamine intolerance which is often misdiagnosed as allergy or food allergy (similar mechanism0.
Also, people who have histamine intolerance often would have gluten and/or lactose intolerance
try to avoid foods high in histamine and fods that are "histamine liberators".

I am in the same situation as you and many others described!!!. Before my gallbladder surgery I knew I had some sensitivity to dairy which seemed to have appeared out of nowhere in the 80's after the dairy industry introduced bovine growth hormone and to wheat after they began using genetically modified grains. However those two substances were it as far as I could discern. Now, 10 years after having had the cholecystectomy, apparently I do not digest foods correctly and per the skin prick tests the allergists use for a diagnosis I am now allergic to chocolate, citrus fruits, tomatoes, and many other things to numerous to mention. This has now caused me to have Barrett's esophagus and the indigestion has led more recently to asthma. I am sure beyond the shadow of a doubt that when one evidently has a dysfunctional gallbladder or the removal of on, the games begin! I believe the bile in the gallbladder works in conjunction with stomach acid to digest things properly which then avoids the inflammation in the digestive tract leading to allergies and sensitivities. I am doing my own little testing on myself introducing some acidic foods back into the picture despite taking PPIs which I was advised to do which I believe is exactly what is NOT needed. I did try enzymes a few years ago and I may do so again at least looking into papain at least. After all of this I am very sure that the gastroenterologists are guessing as they go along but don't really know more that what my body is showing me daily. I hope all of us with these problems can resolve them to have a healthier future with more variety in our food choices.

Yes, I too am very pleased at finding this thread...I had my gall bladder removed many years ago and I to have become very intolerant to many foods and chemicals. As a homeopath (of 13 yrs) I am fortunate in as much I can use homeopathic remedies to either treat the symptoms of malabsorption or take the substance (if I know it) in potency which then removes the local symptoms completely within an hour. My 'intolerance reactions' include raised blood pressure (if it takes me a while to find the culprit food or chemical) or right sided gut sore pain near liver or lower down in cecum area or headache and occasionally itching and rashes. I recommend whoever is suffering like me that you look for an experienced homeopath who can demonstrate to you good knowledge in this area. They need to be easy to work and be within your budget as you will probably want to use them for sometime. My nugget for today for those who have had their gallbladder removed is to incorporate into your diet those oils that dont require bile to metabolise fats the best being in coconut oil. Between us we will sort this problem. Good luck to all of you. Lynne x
