i have had the same description of hanging skin for almost 2 years, just after i lost my virginity. it has caused me great distress and embarrassment. my b/f has never mentioned it, though i am sure he must have noticed. i have just been to the doctor this afternoon. I actually thought that i had a cervical polyp, the dr. looked at me weird like i was stupid when i said what i thought it was. then she had a look and told me it was my hymen. i had never considered that. i was very upset and stressed. but now that i have seen other people have the same problem i feel much better. thank you. however the dr. said there was something strange on it, that is causing it to be inflamed. so i had to get blood tests/urine tests done aswell. so i have to wait for those results. but hopefully it can be removed and i will not have to feel worried about it anymore. if anyone has had it removed i would like to know how it was recovering from the surgery.
i kinda had the same thng, but i was getting fingered and afterwards i went to the bathroom and wiped myself and there was a small piece of skin on the tissue. i dont know if it was part of my hymen or what, but it was there with the blood. can anyone clarify this for me?
I had my daughter when i was 18 yrs old, im 22 now, but After all those weeks of healing i started to use tampons again, and of course one night i go to take it out and it was completely stuck on this sort of thick piece of skin inside of my vagina. i thought i was gonna die! I literally had to pull the skin off the tampon to get it out. I finally call my gyno bc that piece of skin just hung in there and it grossed me out and made me feel soo self conscious. He told me it was nothing to worry about and he just snipped it off. Now its just a squishy little part that seems to have been attatched to my hymen, and i also have a tiny stringy piece on the right side. Guessing from the childbirth. It should be easy for them to just take it out for you bc i couldnt feel it either and was also tempted to cut it out myself lol
i just had a baby and found a piece of skin hanging from inside my vagina. I waited the 6 weeks and at my doc visit I asked about it and was told it was a piece of the hymenal wall surrounding the vagina and usually at child birth a lot of peoples get pushed out and don't heal back up. So, he said if it caused me a prob he would cut it off just using surgical string- loop it and pull. So, I went home had sex with my husband and it was uncomfortable so I cut if off like some of the other posters above. Sterilizing the scissors and everything to make sure it was sanitary.. i didn't want to make another apt. for him to do something like pulling teeth. the cut didn't hurt, but it did bleed for just a little while so I put a sanitary napkin on with neosporen on it. I feel better that I don't have something hanging out now and I think sex will be much more comfortable.
I'm the exact same way, except not 20. But I had a bladder infection when i was younger but i dont think that had anything to do with it? I'm not sure what's going on but i'm the same way and i never thought there'd be anyone else similar but i'm just too scared to tell anyone.
hi ladies,
all of the same things happened to me...must have partially broke during sports, then hard to pull tampons out, then broke during sex and hung out. i didn't know what to do and then i found this blog and ended up going to the gyno to get checked out.
i didnt have to wait until giving birth to get it snipped!! i scheduled an appt at an outpatient facility. they used a short needle to numb the area with lidocaine which only burned slightly. and that was the worst of it. they snipped it without me feeling a thing and stitched it up with stitches that dissolved on their own. it didnt hurt at all and there were no complications. i was so glad i had it done. also my insurance covered almost all of the cost.
i hope this helps someone out!

just yesterday right when i was about to have sex i touched myself to see if i was wet enough and i felt it O_O omg i freaked out. anyhow i freaked out and i looked at my bf telling him to turn on the light. the thing that was always blocking my tampon was finally ...not connected anymore....? anyway the tip looks like it was burned or sumthing and i just cant believe its a flipping hymen! of all the things!>:-( i ask my bf if it freaks him out and he said just a bit. i said all that to say this. i read everyones posts so far and you can tell that u arent the only one going thru this. so dont be ashamed. im going to the doc to see what can be done and if your partner loves you or at least cares :-) then they should realize the human body is an enigma and well they are roughing us up inside so these things should be expected to some extent. im sure the vagina doc has seen it plenty of times b4 so put them to work ^_^ get it checked out. its better than sitting in your room in front of a computer freaking out! :-) im sure if there is a procedure its snip and burn/stitch. and we all agree if we pinch it, it doesnt hurt right? so if there is a procedure it cant be that awful ^_^ cheer up
To be honest I have been having sex with my boyfriend for at least 7 months, and I have had sex with another bf before this one (unfortunately my first time SUCKED!!) But even after these encounters I still have a "hymen". Its a round blockage which I had before having sex so im almost sure it's still my hymen and it's still there. It's not any smaller and it hurts when we get a little too rough, but it's still there.
hi, this is kinda similar to me.
i haven't started my periods, i've never had sex, no fingering or anything.
if i look inside my vagina, just inside there's this bit of... skin? or something hanging there.
it's only small, nd it's not like a flap of skin, it's like a sort of... a mass?
i don't THINK i've broken my hymen (i mean how could i have?)
so what is it?? does anyone else have this?
please help :-(

i have the same thing, but i'm too scared to go to the doctor cause i'm only 16. i had sex last night and was drunk the guy is an a**h***. i wonder how much does it cost to have it fixed cause i'm basically broke. i'm afraid i'll get an infection if i cut it myself but i'll probably end up cutting it myself after all. Advice please ! %-)
I have just had this issue when pulling out a tampon, I've had sex and used tampons before so I don't understand why this has randomly happened when I haven't had problems before
I have a tiny, hanging piece of skin right outiside my vagina as well. I know it was not there before sex, and I believe it is a piece of the hymen that has torn but did not come completely off. This skin does not hang down below my vagina, but can be seen when looking up close or with a mirror. It gets in the way during sex because it gets chaffed and rubbed to the point of bleeding. Other than during sex, it is not painful or noticeable. I am a college student, and I went to see the health center Gyno for a check up and had her look at it. She said it is no problem and I now have an appointment to have it removed. They will numb the area with a small needle, which apparently burns like hell for a few seconds, but then causes all feeling to go away in the area. She will then put stitches around the base before cutting the tiny piece of skin away. It will only cost about 40-60 dollars, depending on your insurance. I am nervous, of course, but this should encourage you that there is a very simple solution, and it isn't too pricey. hope this helps!
Oka. So ive always had the thing that gets in the way with tampons. But i lost my virginity about a month ago and it never really got in the way, or hurt. But i didnt bleed when i lost my virginity. But last night when i was having sex, it broke. I didnt notice when it broke, but i noticed later. and i just now found out this morning that it was bleeding and i just figured out tht this sh*t hurts. So now i just have this thing hanging outta my vagina. i mean. boyfriend wise. im not worried. Cause he knows all about it. But i dont know how the healing thing goes. Cause This is just now happening to me. Buttt. Yeah. I dont know if i should get it checked out or what. I mean. its still kinda bleeding about i just dont know what to think about it.
i had a biking accident and now i kind of have a piece of skin hanging down my vagina. I dont know if its normal though & i dont wanna tell my mom unless its something serious
It sounds to me that many people have had the same problem that ido, which is very relieving. I thought something bad happened cuz I was on the small side and my partner was on the larger side, if you know what I mean. My advice would be to not worry about it if it doesn't cause any pain. You'll find a guy who'll love you the way you are. Try not to be embarrassed because apparently a lot of girls are like this and boys need to just suck it up and not get freaked out about it. I would most definitely NOT advise cutting it off yourself even though I have thought of doing the same thing. The return to normality is definitely not worth any kind of infection you can get from doing that. Have a doctor cut it if it really bothers you that much. He/she can do it right. Goodluck!
