I unfornutatly have this came strange issue. I'm 27 , 2 kids later and my insides are much closer to my outsides...on top of that I have pieces of skin (5) that are long ( not hanging out or anything ) but when I look at my stuff it freaks me all the way out. They remind me of tentacles or something. I'm so emberrassed to even share this. I have an appt on Monday to get a pap smear but I have soooo much anxiety about it. Has anyone had anything like this before? Or am I growing a monster down there?!

Well everyone I have a similar problem...I have a piece of skin hanging from my vagina and when I touch it I can't feel anything It doesn't hurt or anything, and when i first lost my verginity it happened and I'm so scared to talk to my step mom who is a nurse who probably knows what it is... I'm terrified if its bad or normal, and I don't know what it is,then a couple days I realized I have another one but really small...so anyone have any idea what it could be? And also I've had sex 4 times and I'm 17 so I'm worried.... What it is.. And I'm so self conscious about it... HELP PLEASE!!??

Should I cut the part of my hymen that is blocking everything? It's painful and annoying and it looks like this (|). I mean my vagina is fine, it's just the part inside- my hymen. Right at the entrance like this (|). I can only put something in one side or the other, and it hurts for me to stretch it out. Tampons get stuck a lot and I'm embarrassed to do anything sexual. I read up there that some other girl did it and was fine and it didn't hurt too much, just bled a lot, so I'm considering it (maybe cutting it in the shower). Glad to know I'm not the only one though.

same thing happened to me. You have to go to the gyno and youre probably going to have to have surgery like I did. Its not a hard surgery but it needs to be done and they do need to but you to sleep. But its really not that bad. I just had surgery like a month ago. You just cant have intercourse for two weeks after the surgery

I have the same issue... I had sex with my boyfriend and a flap of skin was just hanging from my vagina it freaked me out. At first I thought I had aids or some disease from him. I can't ask the doctor about it because I'm only 13... If you cut it off can you die?

I just learned yesterday I have prices of my hymen left over, and that this is what sometimes causes me pain during penetration. I have been dealing with this sharp almost scratchy sensation for years. Good thing I have a new gyno ;-) . I was told it can be removed with an outpatient procedure since it causes me discomfort, but otherwise it is okay to have as long as it doesn't cause problems.

Had the same issue when I was young and first had my period, tampons always getting stuck. It may not be your hymen, my OGBYN found the flap of skin and said it is normal and many girls get extra skin at the entrance. She surgically cut it, it healed in a day and I've never had an issue ever again. Definitely tell a gynaecologist about it if you haven't. I was young enough that I hadn't had sex yet when she did the surgical procedure. It was painless and only required ointment anesthetic.

It is a common myth that you can "break" your hymen. However, this is not true. When you first have sex, your hymen is not split open like a top to a Pringles can. Instead, the hymen slightly covers the vagina around the edge (which can stretch and lead to bleeding).
