Hello, I too just went through lisfranc surgery just over 3 months ago (9/7/16) with 1 screw. I am happy to share that I am wearing normal flat shoes (boots or running shoes) and walking. I am still walking slower than normal but no more limp. Pain is on and off. The more I walk, the more pain. But that's Ok, I am walking!! The pain is not enough to make me take any medication. I saw the Doctor last week and he said that if the 1 screw bothers me, he can take it off after a couple of months. At this time, I'd rather avoid another surgery so I'll wait.

I have read that ibuprofin hinders bone healing. Avoid it. Use something else. And - eat a balanced diet.

You mentioned you did not have health insurance, I am most likely going to have to go down this same road. I do not have insurance either. If you don't mind me asking how much was the surgery?

Hi,
My name is Nic, someone stood on my accidently and unfortunately I got a lisfranc fracture. I was lucky that i met a surgeon on my second trip to hospital, he was 99% certain I'd need an operation. He recommended a weight bearing CT scan of the foot to confirm. I have been injured one month, had surgery two weeks ago. They put in one plate, a screw into the joints and the metatarsal connecting the big toes and next one.
Two weeks post surgery I've healed well enough to get into a boot (non weight bearing).
Feeling fortunate that I prepared for the surgery and post operation I did a feel things I'd really recommend. I followed advice to keep my foot immobile, I've hired a wheelchair with a leg support, I got supports for the toilet, a shower chair etc
I've healed very well but I'm not tempted to try to walk, understanding the seriousness of this fracture I'm taking it easy.
Goodluck to you all

Hello, I believe I have had a linsfranc sprain. My doctor first told me that I'd be fine and to just use a boot for a couple weeks then go to a well supported shoe. It's been about 4 and a half months. I didn't realize how bad I was injured and expected it to go away any month now. I've been walking on it but now I'm getting worried so I'm going in again this Wednesday. I'm going to ask him to do another x Ray and see if it's gotten worse. I want to try to get a cast and do ZERO weight bearing for about 6 weeks..... If that doesn't work....idk what to do. He says all my joints are in place and I have no fractures. I don't want to have surgery because I LOVE to run. I'm terrified honestly...

Hi Guys, here's my shortish Lisfranc story. I suffered 3 middle met fractures(dislocated) as well as doing a job on 3 cuneiforms(rugby injury). I had 2 plates, 8 small screws and 1 fuse screw through the middle. I've been non weight bearing for 11 weeks. Here's my experience and some advice that may help some of you. Everyone will have a different experience. Exercise your back and shoulders top to bottom from day 1, get some sports massages. For the swelling in your foot, use lots of ice and lots of heat and something that I found brilliant were compression socks, this really helped the swelling and blood flow. I found some really tight ankle compression socks and the swelling vanished over night. As soon as you feel the scar is strong enough(you'll know), get massaging with "bio oil". Prepare yourself for tiredness! You're gonna be nailed. Your body uses a lot of energy re-building itself. Have a look at the "iwalk2.0" this is a crutch on a waIker, think pirate! I wish I had found this earlier. This will give you your hands back around the house. I've done 7 weeks in full light weight cast and 4 weeks in aircast boot. Not driving will send you nuts. Get some acupuncture. Listen to your body. Spend some money on a "disuse athrophy muscle re-builder" or get one from a physio. I used a chattonooga machine, my leg is not far off my other leg and I'm still non weight bearing. Its been annoying but at 11 weeks, although I haven't had the go ahead I know I'm ready to move to the next stage of recovery. My first few days of partial weight bearing have been good. Things to consider when non weight bearing - Massage and stretch the ligament on the bottom of your foot, this is the most painful for me its really tight. Be ready for other body changes, your guts will take a hammering, shoulders and mainly back will be in a terrible mess. Don't drink too much water, you're not moving around as much. Eat clean and get some vitamins with bone knit in just to boost the healing process. Stay positive, its a pretty tedious process and you end up relying on a lot of people. At this point I'm still optimistic. I'll be fully weight bearing hopefully next couple of weeks. I'm confident i'll be able to run again at this point. Stay strong Lisfrancers!

Hi all,
I'm waiting for surgery and a bit scared of the pain to come. Lisfranc injury as well. Couple o screws they think at least and a few months of casts and walking boots before I can wear a shoe again. Right now pain is manageable without meds. I hadn't heard of a nerve block before. Is this something I ask the surgeon or anesthesiologist? I'm lucky to be off work for awhile. Injury was on June 12th. I had a lot of bruising and swelling most of which has gone away by now. What's it feel like to have the hardware in? I'm worried about mobility and movement afterwards. Thanks!

Hi I'm 14 weeks post op. Hardware will remain in unless I want it out. I have 2 plates a fuse screw. 3 mets broken and 3 cuneiforms. I walked three miles yesterday apart from swelling I have no pain. It just sometimes feels very tired. Get yourself a decent physio to help you with specific strengthening. I know it's frustrating but don't come off your crutches too soon aim for 12 weeks Nwb if you can. Before hand I was desperate to come off. But now I'm happy with the time i had to wait. Be patient. Also massage your scar as soon as you can. hope this helps. There is a lot of negatitivity about this injury. You'll be fine!

Hey everyone brief description I' m a 41 year old male and while playing basketball with my son and friends I landed sideways on my foot at the same time a kid stepped on it. What luck anyway I had surgery 5 weeks ago With fractures and dislocations in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th metatarsals with 3 plates and 15 screws in the various bones from surgery. The doctor I had said fusion of all the bones was really my only option. But just wanted to see if anyone had that surgery with the 4 bones being fused and all the hardware how much mobility you might have lost and if you could resume running and playing sports I appreciate all the info and advise
