I had a Lisfranc surgery and I have two screws in my foot. I had the cast removed and the doctor told me I could remove my screws once I reach the six month mark. I am a soccer coach and I am trying to jog back on my foot with the screws still in them, my doctor said it is fine but I'm still feeling pain and it's been around 2 weeks since I was cleared to walk with no cast or boot, but I do still have my screws in. Will the pain ever go away when I run if the screws are still in there? If not, is there anything I can do to limit this pain on the inside of my foot mainly?

Hi there. I completly tore my Lisfranc Ligament on June 18. I am scheduled for surgery on the July 11th. The doctor thinks she can fix with two screws. Have they scheduled your surgery?

Hi! I tore my ligament in my right foot on may 9th which was exactly 2 weeks after having surgery on my left leg to remove a mass. I was told it was a chip in my foot. My foot injury was put on the back burner since I was on crutches putting all my weight on my left leg which opened my previous incision and got extremely infected. So I went a month walking in a boot. After a month I was still unable to walk without the boot and was sent to have a MRI which then they discovered my tare, dislocation, and fractures. I had surgery on June 12, and had two screws placed. This has been one of the longest processes I have ever been through. Instead of going forward I feel like I took 50 steps back because now I am back to non weight bearing

Hi,how you doing now H?
I'm so grateful to have bumped onto thid site and get info from all.
Im 53's young, from South Africa and 2 weeks yesterday after i fainted and broke bones in 4 places. Also it didn't show on X-RAYS but on CT scan. Im going into surgery on Thursday. Got news from Dr that surgery carries no guarantee. Felt heavy depression! Seeing another Dr for another opinion. Dr's won't just cut would they? Anyway..thanks again for inspiration and tips!

Hi Ram and Huskerette!

Thank you both for sharing your experiences, and advice. I am a single mother, cosmetologist, and I suffered from a misdiagnosed lisfranc injury in April. I was cruising along on a skateboard, as I have since I was a kid, and a car tried to run me off the road. The area I was skating in is known for pedestrians, cyclists, etc. was a complete shock.
It’s now October 31st, and my surgery is scheduled for November 15th. I was online hoping to find some more positive perspectives, and much needed advice.
I’ve been through so much in my life. This has been truly the most humbling experience in my 35 years of life.
I just went to an Orthotics/prosthetics specialist today, and was given a new cam boot. I’m shocked in the difference! This is just one of many, many, countless delays in my care that has been so frustrating. I was even released to go back to work on my feet with just a cam boot for 8-9 hours a day back in July( yes, by the Orthopedist!
On day 1, I knew after 3 hours something was severely wrong with my foot, and I wasn’t imagining the pain.
I’m trying to get the positive out of this entire experience :)
I have a lot of anxiety about the upcoming surgery. I’ve waited 7 months now, the doctor was wanting initially to use Nitinol (spl?) staples, however there’s a concern I may reject that hardware bc it contains Nickel. It’s still unclear if I’m allergic to it.
Long story short, my surgery is going to be done outpatient, and it states 2 procedures will be done. “Open treatment tarsometatarsal joint dislocation, and Arthrodesis Midtarsal or Tarsometarsal, multi or transverse”.
I live on the 2nd floor in an apartment. I plan on visiting some nearby thrift/goodwill stores tomorrow to look for a knee scooter, shower chair, anything that may help.
I don’t have many close friends that live nearby. My mother is going to help take me for the surgery, but after that, she won’t be able to help much.
I’m preparing, started pre-hab last week, and am in desperate need of advice.
Thus far, Everything-no exaggeration, down to an X-ray or MRI, I have had to specifically request. Something that stood out to me was the mention of having the nerve block put in knee down. I was told it would be done in my hip.
Any tips, suggestions, even questions to ask me...Please I’m all ears. This is my first time writing about it openly online, and I appreciate the open, positive attitudes of your posts. Thank you!
Love and peace

Hi I have a lisfranc injury which was six months ago. My consultant and I opted for the traditional method of healing as it was not significantly displaced although I did have fractures. Six months on I have some pain and stiffness, X-rays show a slight gap which is worse than the previous month. To give the stability every chance I am now being recommended either tightrope or full plating/screws I’m so confused and you just read horror stories on the web. Any help you can give will be great

I have lisfranc orif 7 weeks ago I got out of my cast a week ago I was worried about operation but was told if I don’t have it my foot could collapse if I do have it that could also happen I’ve got a walking boot I’m walking on crutches and sometimes without it does get sore but I’ve a pretty high pain tolerance I did the same reading online but I decided to have the surgery I’m in England and they failed to see my fracture so they had to remove all scar tissue I’m now with 5 screws and a plate I don’t seem to find anyone in I’m on a forum with same probs but over here they only remove hard ware if it causes you problems I haven’t yet tried to drive but I’m tempted to, but I don’t wanna do too much too soon. I’m only 30 so I didn’t wanna have a foot collapse so I went ahead I could feel my bone stuck out as I touched my foot but now all isn’t in place I just hope the pain I have does go but then again it’s still early days for me
