I'm 24. I used to drink these when I started college so when I was 18. I stopped about 2 years ago. Felt good. Found that I didn't need them. I recently started drinking then again. Past few weeks, don't even know why, I like the taste of them. I only drink one a day, and on week days. I also have either sugar free or the grey ones which I believe are calorie free.
I believe since started drinking these again. I am getting pain in my abdomen. But I also have a 3cm gallstone. So it could be that.
But it is a different pain to this, so not 100% sure if related. I also drink Baroca in the morning which has made a massive improvement to my mood and energy. Think I will just finish the 3 redbulls I have left this week and that's that. Wish I never started again. Bad things they are.

I have also had similar symptoms, I started drinking energy drinks years ago every single day for years, I was always fine and felt normal after having them, but one day I had a bad burning pain in my stomach and very loud stomach gurgling, ever since then I've never felt the same, when I eat food I mostly get gurgles no matter what and sometimes pain, 99% after I eat food I have bad gas also which adds to the gurgling, it wasn't the pain I cared about though it was the gurgling I had which was very embarrassing, I did a lot of revision and been the doctors multiple times, I actually have IBS but have never had these symptoms so when I went the doctors they would always put it down to that but I was adamant they were wrong which I still believe now. I wanted to share how I dealt with this because I know how bad this can be and hopefully help some people.

For anyone who is having stomach pain through this problem I would highly recommend Buscopan, which is well known for stomach cramps and pain. For gas/bloating I take Peppermint Oil capsules, which are really important with eliminating the gurgles. The most important thing is that the gurgles come from the bowels not being able to digest food, meaning that you're eating something that your body cannot tolerate. the gurgles will remain until you cut food out of your diet that you cannot digest and replace it with things you can. And the final thing, which I'm not 100% about, the problems eg. gurgling, pain etc come from the amount of acid in these drinks destroys the stomach and bowels making it harder for digestion causing all of these problems, I started taking tablets to stop acid (lansoprazole) but they made me ill but they may react differently with different people, so I started taking omeprazole which is part of the same family of prescription drugs which made me feel much better and got rid of the burning and the symptoms greatly, if this isn't enough ask the doctor to increase the dosage of these tablets. I cant prove that acid is related to these problems but it would make sense, I'm open to replies and will message privately to anyone who is having these problems.

It's something in the drinks like a laxative that cause the bowl movements n pains it's very strange that all off you are getting pains 2 that's why there's a age limit on them they know something we don't.

I believe it's the lactic acids in your stomach possibly. If you've had fizzy drink in the past quite frequently, then you're probably dealing with lactic acid. Also when you work out it increases. Let's hope you don't have gastritis. But just eat less acidic foods and make sure to eat something that's kind to the acids in your stomach. Hopefully that will help, but I'm not sure.

i drink energy drinks quite often and have been experiencing loss in appetite, stomach pains, insomnia. I barley eat because I no longer feel hungry, I feel the need to sleep after only 5 hours of being awake, I feel sick constantly and no longer feel as though I need to use toilet.

I drink about 1 or 1/2 energy drink most days, for the past 2-3 years, but especially more regularly now. For about 2 weeks now I've been having moderate to severe stomach pains. That is really unlike me. I even had to take tums for the 2nd time in my life, and that didn't work. I then took Peptobismal for the 1st time in my life, and it sort of worked to decrease the pain. I notice that the worst pain happens after I drink an energy drink, but it also happens after eating eggs, potato chips, or anything greasy. I thought it would be temporary, but its not going away... unless I stop drinking the energy drinks. I switched to coffee and water the last few days and the pain mostly went away. Tried energy drink again a couple more times and got instant pain. I believe I'm starting to get Gastritis. I guess I will have to stop drinking these and switch back to coffee... :( At least it will save me some money.

To be clear, the FDA, European Food Safety Authority, and others have affirmed the safety of energy drinks and their ingredients. Moreover, most mainstream energy drinks actually have far less caffeine than a similar size coffeehouse coffee. In fact, many have about half as much.

Regarding the other ingredients contained in these products, it's also important to note that many are naturally occurring ingredients. For example, guarana derives from a nut-like seed native to South America and is a natural source of caffeine. Along similar lines, taurine is an amino acid found naturally in the human body, as well as in common food items such as seafood, scallops and poultry.

Even so, America's leading energy drink manufacturers voluntarily go far beyond all federal requirements when it comes to responsible labeling and marketing practices. This includes displaying total caffeine content - from all sources - on their packages, along with advisory statements indicating that the product is not recommended for children, pregnant or nursing women and persons sensitive to caffeine.

Same issue here. I quit monster drinks for a while due to the sugar content. Then, they came out with the sugar free/zero calorie version. I tried it. I drank one each day in the morning instead of a cup of coffee. About the third or fourth day, I started getting abdominal pain. I wasn't sure if it was the drinks, so I had half a can on an empty stomach around lunch. No long after I was doubling over in pain. It wasn't my stomach, it was my abdomen (my intestines). It got pretty bad. The pain came in waves. I stopped drinking Monster energy drinks and the pain went away. It's a very specific sharp pain unlike anything else, unlike even food poisoning which occurs in the same region. Since I quit drinking Monster energy drinks, I have not experienced that particular type of pain. I will never drink another one.

I drank monsters for 2 years, I now have leaky gut syndrome from it which causes immune system deficiency, tears in your intestinal lining, allergies you never had to basic foods, diarrhea, and other things. I am on a quest to suing monster drinks for NOT putting warning labels on their product, instead touting it as a healthy drink containing vitamins.
